[quote]PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A former Providence convenience store owner is set to plead guilty to charges that he fraudulently obtained about $648,000 in food stamp benefits.
A change-of-plea hearing for Syed Shah is scheduled for Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Providence. Shah has signed a plea agreement indicating he plans to plead guilty to conspiracy to acquire and possess food stamp benefits and money laundering.
Prosecutors allege Shah and a co-conspirator who was not indicted allowed customers to exchange food stamps for cash at his 7-Eleven store. They say the fraudulent transactions resulted in the government transferring at least $648,000 to 7-Eleven, Corp., which Shah was able to withdraw from his store.
Shah no longer has a 7-Eleven franchise.

Heard about this today. I'm friendly with the guys son, I feel really bad for him (the son, not him). The guy could do up to 15 years in jail.
Guess his scheme didn't really check out.
