• USB stick broke after making it bootable

My friend tried to make an USB stick bootable with universal USB installer. Even though the installer said the operation was successful, the USB disk's file system appears to be broken. My friend is using Windows 7. When he tries to access the USB disk through my computer, it says the disk is not formatted. When he tries to format it, it says the disk is write protected. When he checks the disk for errors the same thing happens (Disk is not formatted...) How would I fix this problem? My friend says he has tried it with different USB sticks, and they all broke. I tried to look on Google, but he seems to be the only person having this problem...
Also note it can't be found on Ubuntu and I've tried a low-level format.
Some USB sticks have (Like old floppy disc) a small switch on the side. I doubt that would be the problem though. Another thing I doubt would be the problem is when you right click on the usb disk, and go to properties, is to make sure that "Read only" is unchecked. One thing you can try is: 1. Open your start menu 2. Type "Regedit" without quotes in the search bar and hit enter 3. Find "StorageDevicePolicies" Location ("HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies") 4. Open Write Protected File and and change the value into "0". 5.Click ok. 6.Then Remove Your Device and Insert It. If that does not work you can download a file (I'm not a fan of downloading files to fix the problem for me, I rather do it myself manually) http://www.apacer.com/en/support/downloads/Repair_v2.9.1.1.zip Run it and then re-format your usb drive.

No problem
