I haven't played Battlefield 3 since it's last major patch.
I hit the max level, I unlocked everything and the game is just pitiful. They nerfed things that didn't need to be, they buffed things that were fine the way they were.
They still haven't optimized their game, or maps, whichever. Somehow Karkand maps load quicker than vanilla, which only means one thing.
Meh. I still probably won't play BF3 until one of those expansions comes out, then it's going to get boring all over again, they just want CoD's audience.
This would be a great time for me to catch up and unlock some things I need.
I'd play to get the P90 and that corridor clearing USAS but I have to repair BF3 everytime I want to play it and lately it runs like complete ass for some reason.
While double XP has been a standard promotion for most online shooters, Battlefield 3 has yet to participate.
MMOs maybe but this is the first shooter I have heard of doing double XP or something similar
And I still have terrible stuttering and can barely play on low settings, and I've got an i5 2500k and a GTX 460.
I get pretty bad performance on my i5 and GTX 560 Ti. It ran MUCH smoother when the game was new. It's pretty saddening.
Yeah the beta ran perfectly, as did the game when it was new. I don't get how they fuck it up so much.
I have an i7 and gtx 260 and it runs well for me.
I've had it since release and only lvl 25...
How much time do you have to spend to get to lvl 100?
Some people have 600 hours before they reach that.
MMOs maybe but this is the first shooter I have heard of doing double XP or something similar
CoD does it a lot, Gears 2 and 3 have done it plenty, I see it a lot in Halo: Reach.
Maybe it's a mostly console thing?
Ah well I've spent around 24...
Yeah, I could never get into the game. The main issue for me was the network interpolation(?) creating a nasty delay between what I saw and what was actually there, as well as having my post-process anti aliasing (I can't remember what it was called) too high which blurred my screen like crazy. I fixed those two issues and the game is finally playable, but I just loved Bad Company 2 way more. I can't seem to enjoy BF3 the way I could enjoy BC2. Much of it is probably due to not even enjoying the vehicles as much (which was supposed to be a strength for BF3). I absolutely cannot stand aerial combat in BF3 because it takes so much effort just to hit a target that I'm better off just going on foot and clearing out infantry/vehicles.

I still cannot believe this is the damn default setting. Its atrocious
Also, for anyone experiencing in game stuttering, turn your max render frames ahead (somewhere in the nvidia panel) to 1. It just fixes it for no reason
Am I the only one here with no issue with the game whatsoever?
MMOs maybe but this is the first shooter I have heard of doing double XP or something similar
COD, Gears, Halo, Mass Effect 3.
I got to the last level that unlocks items in around 100 hours (rank 45)
I really don't care at all about the ranks at this point

I have issues with the vanilla loading times but that's it. Everything else in the game is absolutely fine for me.
Just kind of burned out on it.
Study for finals or play BF3?
Hmmm
study
not worth spending time on a virtual game for virtual weapons
specially for this game
I get pretty bad performance on my i5 and GTX 560 Ti. It ran MUCH smoother when the game was new. It's pretty saddening.
I have an I5 and sli'd 560ti and the game runs perfectly fine for me. If i run it on ultra i get almost no lag.
Anyway, i still enjoy this game but i don't play it obsessively. I need to play in bursts of 3-4 rounds then i need to stop for like a few hours. It's still fun to me and maybe now i can catch up a bit to my friends who play quite often.
Modern warfare 3 also has a double XP weekend on starting today. Strange.

Both. Use bf3 as a reward. Study for 2 hours get an hour of bf3.
Every 2 hours gets you 1 hour or something like that.
Sounds like a good idea, but what if you lose track of time after fucking around in a Skype call with suicidal jeeps in BF?
Honestly, I really wish they would just release the SDK tools for BF3, I want Forgotten Hope 3, custom maps so the gameplay doesn't become stale.

"but what if no one buys our crappy DLC!!!"
EA: Then we turn to Activision and host our new shitty DLCs where all the weapons are blocks that you throw at people! Oh and make them have Minecraft textures because people just LOVE minecraft now right?! RIGHT?
Apparently Firefox thinks Activision is Vivosection

if the game is pitiful then why are you spending money on map packs and continuing to play the game
I'll definitely play it and unlock some stuff. Normal unlocking progression seems too slow for me.

Really? Dogfights are one of my favorite parts of the game. If you and the enemy descend into flying in circles, you're doing something wrong, because it's fairly easy to break that and get behind them.
The main issue with planes is when engineers on the ground relentlessly screw up dogfights with their AA missiles.
For everyone that says it runs poorly, I've noticed out of trial and error. 32bit systems don't work with it. At all. Mistreated computers on 64bit systems also suffer. Mine game works perfectly, my mates works perfectly. But another mate and his brother, theirs didn't even start up half the time. After some tweeking and fixing and both of them ending up getting 64bit, their game works perfectly.
[editline]12th May 2012[/editline]
There is another mate, his battlefield has to be re-installed everytime he wants to play. He recently re-formatted. It worked for a while then stopped again. Turns out, it was all the bloatware he uses to "overclock" his system.

Care to tell us how you tweaked their systems so that they worked instead of being so ambiguous?
Does it even work
I didn't notice any xp boost while playing
