Disney has acquired movie rights to the fantasy series “The Chronicles of Prydain” and is in early development on the project, Variety has learned.
The five novels by Lloyd Alexander, based on Welsh mythology, were published annually from 1964 to 1968 and followed the protagonist Taran from youth to maturity. He’s an assistant pig-keeper but initially dreams of being a grand hero.

The first two books in the series served as the basis for Disney’s 1985 animated fantasy movie “The Black Cauldron,” in which a Horned King sought to secure an ancient magical cauldron that would aid him in his desire to conquer the world.
Hopefully this movie won't be a super condensed version of the story this time.
One of the classics of my childhood, my dad used to read them out loud to me, always wished the first movie they did wasn't so lacklustre.

I wonder if Einstein Gollum will return.
YES, if they make it 2D that would be sooo awesome. 3d would probably be cool too but a part of me wants that awesome 2d style again. The movie was fanfuckingtastic.

Hm. Weird decision :V
But if it's good it's good
I wonder if they're going to make it as dark as the original 1985 movie was intended to be? I remember Disney cutting a bunch of really violent parts out of the animated movie.
I loved the chronicles of prydain and its adaptation as the black cauldron, I hope this reboot will do it even more justice by leaving everything in. Wouldnt mind it as a trilogy or a cycle, if it necessitates.
Gurgi is the true hero.
I never did find that movie interesting maybe its because i had just seen this.

The horned king being a lich or whatever, a non silly looking army of the dead and the melting scene at the end
Holy shit
This movie will be all censored and sweet now i guarantee it..don't want to offend anyone do we?
Isn't this one of those famous 80's Disney movies with a dark theme?

It's famous, but not for the right reasons.
First, restore those really nasty scenes, and make a release without DNR. Then I'll support this.
Honestly, for how big the King Arthur myth is, there really isn't a plethora of films about it.
Holy shit I loved that movie when I was a kid. I'm really happy they're doing this, I'm just worried that they'll lose the dark as hell nature of the original movie. It's a shame that the movie wasn't entirely faithfully reconstructed from the books, as I later found out, but I enjoyed it all the same.
