I would like to know some tools that will keep my pc running at the best it can be. The current tools I have are: Perfect Disk Sbybot S&D Registry clean expert If anyone knows of any other programs that will be useful then it would be much appreciated.
CCleaner is pretty good [editline]13th July 2011[/editline] http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
Thanks, Ill check it out soon
Defraggler. Great defragmentation program. (Don't use it if you have an SSD)
Replace Spybot S&D with Malwarebytes Antimalware, it's a lot better.

Common Sense 2011 tends to be a good one. Other than that, CCleaner, Defraggler, Malwarebytes, COMODO.
Common Sense 2011 tends to be a good one.
Common Sense 2011 dictates that you should download an antivirus software, so yes. You're correct.

I put them on all my client's machines, and everyone's pretty happy.
choose only one antivirus that has active protection, they can conflict.
Haven't had a single problem yet, and Avast! catches way more than what MSE lets slip through. Malwarebytes Free edition is a passive scanner. (You have to scan things manually unless you purchase a license)
Defraggler. Great defragmentation program. (Don't use it if you have an SSD)
why not?
why not?
Since even if an SSD is fragmented you wouldn't notice it speed wise, and when you defrag it you put the cells through a lot of read/write which deteriorates your SSD faster.
I'm not one of those "hurf durf common sense r best AV" anymore but I have been running without protection for the past 3 years or so. This installation is about 6 months old I'd guess and I finally decided to download Malwarebytes for the hell of it. Boot to safe mode, install the downloaded installer without internet access and scan. 1 reslut, which I know for a fact is a false positive. I don't know, maybe I'm just that good at not visiting fishy sites but it really makes me wonder how the hell some people manage to fuck up their computers the way they do. Still as I said I'm not one of those people anymore since I've learned a lot about security lately. Since this is as good a place as any to ask, what is a good unintrusive AV? I have UAC disabled simply because the prompts drive me insane and I don't want some AV doing scans every 5 minutes sucking up performance.

I have idea what that says but it doesn't look to healthy.
That is alot of problems, but programs like that tend to mention every single issue with the registry ever. EVER
That is alot of problems, but programs like that tend to mention every single issue with the registry ever. EVER
Like having a registry to begin with. :3 I rather store settings in .ini or .cfg files.
Common Sense 2011 dictates that you should download an antivirus software, so yes. You're correct.
Just saying dude, one of the most important things that keeps your PC running efficiently is not clogging it with shit.
