When applied to a notebook, it reduces power consumption by 40 percent compared to a 1.5V DDR3 module. The module makes use of Pseudo Open Drain (POD), a new technology that has been adapted to high-performance graphic DRAM to allow DDR4 DRAM to consume just half the electric current of DDR3 when reading and writing data.
Source
2011 is looking pretty good right now
Will be available early 2012
Well well, that certainly is good news!
And I'm still using DDR1 :smith:
Oh fuck off I just got ddr3...
I'm still on DDR2 and just 6 months ago bought 4 new 1GB sticks of it. I reckon I'll be keeping my newly-refreshed rig (minus the PSU) until something blows up.
I'm on DDR3, hehe.
Needs more 128 bit processers :science:
I don't even know what DDR means but according to Speccy I have 2GB DDR2 RAM :buddy:
I don't even know what DDR means but according to Speccy I have 2GB DDR2 RAM :buddy:
Double Data Rate. Doesn't really mean much unless you need to know what it means. But it means the speeds shown in Speecy would be double, as as the name suggest, it's double data rate.
Awesome, one of my favourite hardware producers are pioneers once again
Fucking god damn it, I only just smugfaced my way onto DDR3
Needs more 128 bit processers :science:
Why...?
http://tweakers.net/nieuws/71731/samsung-ontwikkelt-ddr4-geheugen.html Its dutch at end it says : .....so the standard organization Jedec DDR4 standard in the second half of this year ratify. Samsung has given no date when it will begin mass production. O_O
All the nerds that JUST got DDR3, post reaction faces.
All the nerds that JUST got DDR3, post reaction faces.
:smug: I got 4gb of DDR3 RAM for $35 from Newegg in the Christmas sale, who am I to complain?
I got 8gb of DDR3 this week for £80 :)
I decided that I wasn't going to rebuild my computer for quite a while. Looks like when I rebuild its going to be one hell of a build.
When DDR3 was introduced initially, but did not become mainstream for at least 3 years. I'm quite sure this is going to be the same with DDR4 as well.
I though they would skip DDR4 and go straight to DDR5.. Just like they did with video cards :/ I still like this news!! :)
I though they would skip DDR4 and go straight to DDR5.. Just like they did with video cards :/ I still like this news!! :)
What are you talking about? GDDR4 do exist. For example: -insert image of a 3870 x2 here, with the word "No Deeplinking Please" on it-
What are you talking about? GDDR4 do exist. For example: [img_thumb]http://www.pcgameshardware.de/screenshots/medium/2008/03/Kopie_von_DSC05973.JPG[/img_thumb]
I have never seen these in the market place.. Most website just skip GDDR4. (GDDR2 -GDDR3 -GDDR5) Hmm... Still happy for DDR4 Ram never the less

I wonder what the memory timings will be.
Any idea on the price of this?
Can someone tell me what GHz is?
When DDR3 was introduced initially, but did not become mainstream for at least 3 years. I'm quite sure this is going to be the same with DDR4 as well.
DDR3 was expensive as SHIT when it was introduced. When it was a brand new thing I was comparing RAM-prices. I got 4GB of DDR2 at the same price I would have gotten 1GB of DDR3. It'll probably be the same with DDR3 and DDR4.
I'm on 2 gigs DDR2. My whole computer is aging actually, I need to upgrade some junk.
Good news for people with 2.1 GHz processors.
