Another piece of clarification around playing games at a friend’s house – should you choose to play your game at your friend’s house, there is no fee to play that game while you are signed in to your profile
http://majornelson.com/2013/05/21/xbox-one-and-used-games/
signed into your profile

your profile
UPDATEUPDATEUPDATE:
Still. If you have multiple gamers with their own accounts in a household (say, siblings) you're utterly boned.
I read somewhere you're not, that just like 360 arcade games they are both tied to your account and hardware.
Still. If you have multiple gamers with their own accounts in a household (say, siblings) you're utterly boned.
just like steam?
That softens the blow a little for people who bring their games over to friends' houses for local play, but I'm still worried about different users on the same console. This still is little more than a system-wide offline pass. Though I have heard that the system will offer digital resale and trade-in of games, so I wonder how that'll work.
So it sounds to me like the games are tied to the hardware and not accounts themselves. Well what the fuck will happen if I break my Xbox One and have to get a new one? Pay a fee for all of my games that I'd already bought?
just like steam?
How so?
just like steam?
Yes, just like steam. That doesn't mean it's a good thing for a console, which is shared in that manner as standard
update! check op
How so?
To be fair, he has a point. Steam is completely digital; there's no such thing as used games and there's no way to sign multiple accounts in on one PC in a way that allows those without the game to partake in local multiplayer, and disc codes on game DVDs for those who still buy their PC games on disc still only work on one Steam account. XBO works much the same way, but doesn't have the excuse of the platform being mostly digital to get away with it. For the most part, XBO is still disc-based and at least on PC, when the Steam code is used you can still install the non-Steam version of the game from disc.

Unless someone would care to enlighten me on why you'd do that? I just can't think of any games you could actually play in multiplayer that way.
Still. If you have multiple gamers with their own accounts in a household (say, siblings) you're utterly boned.
No
Other users on the console will be able to play that game as well, Harrison said. So you don't need to buy multiple games per family. "With the built-in parental controls of the system it is shared amog the users of the device," he said.
http://kotaku.com/you-will-be-able-to-trade-xbox-one-games-online-micros-509140825
just like steam?
Steam has sales, free games, and I don't have to pay $60 extra a year to watch netfl-I mean play games online. Plus you can download games on steam anywhere you can login, I doubt xbox intends to perform a similar service, you still would need to have the disk (otherwise what is to stop people from buying a game, registering it, and then returning it immediately after?) The PS Triple Gives me sleeping dogs and Demons souls and a bunch of other games for $50 a year and online is free. Why can't xbox offer a similar service with my xbox live gold purchase? I'd imagine they could with all the ads that are on my screen before I launch my game. Playstation Plus is one of the most Ballin' services ever, Totally worth the money, but Xbox live seems hardly justified, I shouldn't have advertisements on a service that I paid for. That's why I pay for android apps -- To remove the ads -- not to have more on my screen.
this (the information) was clear from the press conference. If you missed this you missed it on purpose. Your gamertag is not tied to your console, neither will your games. [editline]22nd May 2013[/editline]
To be fair, he has a point. Here's what people should do: 1. Don't get an Xbox One. 2. Buy a decent PC or PS4 3. Pat yourself on the back for not buying a trap 4. Say fuck you to Xbox One. The end. Also I don't like the whole idea behind these tedious features... EDIT: How is Microsoft going to manage?
You weren't supposed to do that then, either
exactly? it was phased out for the benefit of publishers.
You weren't supposed to do that then, either
Y'see, I don't get that. Isn't a LAN party just the PC version of local multiplayer?
Don't tell us what to do, we can do what we want.
It didn't imply I was, it was saying you should, therefore it's a suggestion more than a forced "Do this or else". EDIT: Also don't derail the thread, meany.
netflix sure is useful for people outside the US.
It's always funny when Microsoft do a release announcement of some sort, people just end up confused and asking more questions that should have been addressed before they were even asked.
Good, but it still means you can't borrow your games to your friends without giving them your profile. Still, I guess the splitscreen multiplayer thingy is safe now...

So the new Xbox One games will work just like arcade games do on the 360? I'm ok with this.
just like steam?
My brother and I have used the same steam account for pretty much two years. Offline mode works very well for that.
this console is a fucking joke
just like steam?
The two are completely different audiences. If you're a hardcore PC gamer then that's fine, but people like myself still enjoy playing games with their friends in real life.
