Police have been called to a school in South Yorkshire after schoolchildren were attacked by fellow pupils for having ginger hair.
The assaults, apparently inspired by an episode of the cartoon South Park, took place at the Wingfield Academy in Rotherham last week. South Yorkshire police said the force had been alerted to the assaults and an officer had given "words of advice" to those involved.
The school said that the attacks were "deplorable acts" and that students had been "strongly reprimanded".
A South Yorkshire police spokesman said: "The force was made aware of incidents last week at Wingfield Academy, Rotherham, where a small number of pupils suffered minor injuries.
"Following national guidelines, the school took the lead and dealt with the matter. Police did not investigate.
"However, one of our partnership-based young people officers has given words of advice to those involved.
Oh cool, people still do this?
Anyone who thinks that episode encourages violence against gingers completely missed the point.

I wonder if matt and trey laugh or sigh when they see headlines like this. My bet is on laugh :v:
Christ, people are idiots. I mean, there's a difference between someone not dealing with jokes and causing legendary results like this:

And downright attacking people because a cartoon with jokes oriented towards teens and adults makes fun of gingers a lot.
At first the whole "Gingers have no souls" thing was funny but now it's just annoying. Every time I meet someone my age they are always like "le gingers have no soles".
I didn´t even know that hating people with red hair was a thing.

It never was it's satire/banter. Looks like some kids took it a bit too literally.
My red hair got me bullied all through kindergarten to 8th grade.
Not really sure why though.
People actually do this at my school. It genuinely makes me mad because people will kick hard just for laughs. Needless to say, a shit ton of kids get booted to the office when this day rolls around, and I have the last laugh, fuckers!
Imagine if they tried to do this up here in Scotland, it'd just be a non-stop kickfest.

Because you have something rare and different and people use that as an excuse to attack people.

Actually it'd probably have to be classified a civil war or a riot given the exact percentage

also i don't think kicking him would end well
Man I remember I used to get shit for my red hair in elementary and middle school.
But in Highschool and and my time in College women would come up to me all the time because of my hair. Just generally in public too women come up to me to tell me how great my hair is, so i like to think I've won.
If any you guys still get shit for your red hair just wait until you're around the age of a young adult and people find it pretty dope.
People did this at my high school in grade 9. The next day a red haired girl came to school with her hair dyed black because of it.

this assumes that viewers think even remotely critically about things that they watch
it pretty much does encourage violence because that's what it shows and reinforces via humor
Wow, using the g-word in the title? How offensive!

Ginger guys are mainly the insulted people.
Ginger girls are mainly the fapped to people

IIRC until Elizabeth I made red hair fashionable and famous, it was considered a sign of your mother fucking the devil and shunned similar to Albinism.
I've actually had people ask me if I'm naturally ginger because I have ridiculously fair skin, dspite being naturally blonde/dirty blonde. Once when I had my hair cut short and the blondey-ness became more apparent, someone actually gasped and said that they were surprised to find out I was naturally blonde. One day I want to actually dye my hair ginger just to see if it'd fit with my skintone and find out if they're right.
