Pendulum are a drum and bass group originally hailing from Perth, Australia. In 2003, they relocated to the United Kingdom. The group comprises Rob Swire, Gareth McGrillen, Perry ap Gwynedd, Ben Mount (MC Verse), Paul Harding, and Paul Kodish (live drums). The Pendulum sound is typically heavy beats accompanied by low, buzzing basslines, overlaid with synthesized leads. The group has produced various remixes of other artists, the most well-known being their remix of "Voodoo People" by The Prodigy. Pendulum have also remixed themselves. In 2006, 'Painkiller' with the Freestylers was remixed by NOISIA and released on Against the Grain records.
Pendulum pretty much have their own genre, they are rock, electronica, drum and bass, to name a few, all into one, but even then it does not fully describe them at all. They are not so mainstream, although have been gaining tons of attention with each and every single released, with each single gaining higher and higher positions on the charts. --------------------------------- Below is some of their music (I can not fault any of their tracks, no album fillers :)) picked by me, have a little listen :) --------------------------------- Hold Your Colour Slam Tarantula (Beware Rastafarian :ninja:) Hold Your Colour /\ Unofficial video, but its awesome none the less :) -------------------------------- In Silico (Out May 12th UK) Granite Propane Nightmares ------------------------------------ Singles Voodoo people (remix of The Prodigys Voodoo people) ------------------------------------ My own personal review of Pendulum is that their sound is very unique, I can not really find any other bands with a style that is even close to theirs (closest would probably be Prodigy, but their music is much more Ravey Baby). The album hold your colour I can find no faults with, all the tracks are of very good quality, have their own distinct sound, basically no album fillers. Their next album, In Silico, due out May 12th, has so far had 2 singles released from it, Granite and Propane Nightmares, which I can solidly say are two incredible pieces of music in my opinion. Thanks for reading the thread, hope ya like em :)
I got into Pendulum through Kerrang! i can't remember how. I bought the album Hold Your Colour a few days later and i was surprised. It's not at all rock or metal. But more drum and bass and other genres round there. Even though i normally hate drum and bass and all genres round it i REALLY like this album. Trantula in my view is by far the best song on the album.
Pendulum kicks ass. Best DnB band that's actually a band, not some guy behind a screen.
I'm liking Pendulum, but I don't think In Silico is really gonna be my cuppa. Hopefully it will be more like Granite and less like Propane Nightmares.
I fucking love Pendulum. Edit: Especially "Hold Your Colour" That's such an uplifting song.
I used to really like Pendulum, that was a couple of years ago, but they have changed too much these days. When I saw them in Manchester I may aswell had gone to a gig, there was no mixing, it was all done instrumentally and there were too many greebos there, at a drum and bass night -_- And they all fucked off after pendulum had finished their set and Andy C came on. Their new stuff is shit I reckon, it's something to listen to but it's not drum and bass, they are slowly turning into a band., instead of the DnB group they started off as.

I learned about these guys from Motorstorm (Slam) but I found that their other stuff was far superior, especially Tarantula and Fasten Your Seatbelts.
The new album is certainly different. Lots more vocals, more rocky. Can't stop listening to Propane Nightmares though. I'll still be buying it come May 12th though.
Bumping this thread to gloat because I'm going to see pendulum in the Manchester academy in about 6 hours time. Edit: 2 hours fuck yeah.
Bumping this thread to gloat because I'm going to see pendulum in the Manchester academy in about 6 hours time.
Can we exchange lives? Pendulum is awesome. Slam is still my favorite song though. That fat guy is fucking awesome
I may be going to see Pendulum on the 18th at the London Astoria. Edit: Tickets are only £20
I saw them last Tuesday and they were awesome. I have to say that I don't like the new stuff that I have heard so far.

I absolutely love Pendulum!
Wow, he sings lol, I think i like their old stuff better, but i dunno, I will give their new stuff a chance. :3: But i love this band(?) :D
I agree, I loved their older stuff alot better.
I'm liking Pendulum, but I don't think In Silico is really gonna be my cuppa. Hopefully it will be more like Granite and less like Propane Nightmares.
Be warned, it's a mix of both, but all the songs have their own flavour, just like in Hold Your Colour :D It does seem like more of a Rock-DnB fusion rather than prominently DnB, which I suppose a lot of fans wouldn't like, but I love it myself :D it's got more soul. You can download a 12-minute mix of In Silico from their site if you want to check it out. To be honest, I can't stand a lot of live D'n'B stuff where an MC just warbles annoying shite over a mono mix of the song. It ruins it completely, which is why I love Pendulum. Even when they do live stuff they keep the MC'ing crap down to a minimum, and seem to go out of their way to provide a nice stereo sound most of the time. Really makes the bass and the treble stand out from each other that way :D
Holy shit In Silico is PERFECT. Unbelievable, their best sound yet. It sounds like their old stuff, but upgraded. Christ.
I just got their new album today, and I guess I wasn't exactly impressed but i wasn't let down either. I can hands down say I prefer their older stuff though.
Voodoo people is awesome!
'In Silico' isn't bad, but really disappointing. Every song in 'Hold Your Colour' was awesome to some varying degree. In 'In Silico', we actually have bad songs, and that makes me sad. Oh, and out of the 4 songs I liked of the 10, two of them were prereleased (Granite and Propane Nightmare). I also don't mind 'Showdown' and '9000 Miles'.
Got their new album today, Love it, Been listening to it all day.
Slam is in lots of videos, but the actual music video is fucking hilarious.
I just saw In Silico at my local store and picked it up without hesitation. It's pretty awesome.
In Silico was okay; it definitely isn't Pendulum, and anyone looking for a Drum and Bass album will be sorely dissapointed, but it's okay. Ish.
I love In Silico. I wasn't expecting Drum and Bass so I wasn't disappointed.
I prefer 'Hold Your Colour' to 'In Silico', the songs in 'In Silico' all sound incredibly similar apart from the singles.
Hold Your Colour was best, but In Silico is a nice change. Really loving Propane Nightmares, Showdown and Granite. I'm really sick of people saying that it's not Drum and Bass just because it has more lyrics :/
