Washington, D.C. (August 18, 2014) — As of Monday, August 18, The ALS Association has received $15.6 million in donations compared to $1.8 million during the same time period last year (July 29 to August 18). These donations have come from existing donors and 307,598 new donors to The Association. The ALS Association’s mission includes providing care services to assist people with ALS and their families through a network of chapters working in communities across the nation and a global research program focused on the discovery of treatments and eventually a cure for the disease. In addition, The Association’s public policy efforts empower people to advance public policies in our nation’s Capital that respond to the needs of people with ALS. Well holy hell, a stupid internet charity fad that actually work at raising money!
Well, a dumb internet fad actually did something for once, and that's more than i can say for any other dumb "slackavist" thingo.
That's 13.8 million more than last year. Great to see something good come out of a fad.
I hope ALS gets iced.
Stephen hawking will live another 40,000 years with this kind of money!

i dont think its honestly all that hard to google ALS and find the donate page themselves though
i dont think its honestly all that hard to google ALS and find the donate page themselves though
After all the shit we've seen on the news here, do you really think people are smart enough to do that?
-az-
i dont think its honestly all that hard to google ALS and find the donate page themselves though
People would rather have likes on facebook, than actually figure out why they are doing it nowadays
Most people I know who did it, Just posted a video of them dumping water on their heads without donating a cent. It is great so much money was donated but Imagine if everyone who poured ice water on their heads donated something.

They're now up to 22.9 million dollars and 453,210 new donors. http://www.alsa.org/news/media/press-releases/ice-bucket-challenge-081914.html
As long as celebs with real bank donate, it doesn't really matter what the average joe does with it
It does kind of matter, because you're taking what's supposed to be a charity gag and turning it into more fuel for your personal ass-kissing booth.

Some dumb teen gets a 20 view video on YouTube, so what Every single celeb challenge video I've seen has donated and raised awareness of ALS
but rusty didn't like it, it must be bad!
Cant wait for him to shitpost in here
No one said they have to donate to do it?
If this is a problem then I recommend you don't associate with idiots (who won't even donate in the first place anyway)
How this conversation went from "who cares if they donate or not" to "you hang out with a bunch of retards" is beyond me.

The fad is dumb like most other "challenges" but all that raised charity money makes me perfectly okay with this one.
The fad is dumb like most other "challenges" but all that raised charity money makes me perfectly okay with this one.
Its not only the money, but the general awareness over the disease has probably increased a fuckton.
unfortunately for us californians, this ice bucket challenge is fucking ridiculous because we're in a SEVERE DROUGHT like this fucking state is expected to empty its water reserves in like 2-3 years so what the fuck
Well, a dumb internet fad actually did something for once, and that's more than i can say for any other dumb "slackavist" thingo.
Didn't that no makeup selfie thing for breast cancer take off in a similar manner to this?
