My friend has 3 red rings, on his 360, we tried the things it said on Xbox.com to fix it, but it didn't. And it's these 3 red rings. The full circle: /\ \/ The 3 rings: / \/ Sorry if that isn't clear.
Everybody knows what a rrod is.
Yeah, but I'm pointing out which parts are flashing.
Poor rubbing alcohol into the fan. works every time.
Give it a decent burial
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=3+rings+rrod why the fuck did you make a thread about this searching exists for a reason, this isn't the 1990s (User was banned for this post ("LMGTFY" - birkett))
I know, but apparently, he tried all that, it didn't work.
Get it replaced, that's what I did, got my first RRoD 1 day after I bought it, worked fine since I replaced it.
How does he get it replaced? Send it in to get repaired? Do I have to send it to SYDNEY? Apparently, If I live in Melbourne, I have to send it to Sydney, and how long does it take?
open it up, add new thermal paste, buy a good third party fan from ebay, and your set
The people in this thread so far have no fucking clue what they're talking about. Your friend currently has two options: He can send it in to Microsoft for repair, which takes a few weeks, or he can attempt a home repair. The three red lights error is covered under warranty. If he uses Xbox Live or has ever connected his 360 to the internet, you can check the status of his warranty by going through the Xbox 360 troubleshooter here: http://support.xbox.com/support/en/us/nxe/hardware/console/troubleshootingconsoleproblems/flashinglights.aspx Just follow it step by step. After the problem is diagnosed, it will offer you to send it in for repair, at which point you enter the serial number on the back of the console to check the warranty status. If it's still under warranty, then you can fill out the form and they will send you a box to send the console back in for free. If the console is no longer under warranty, then the repair will cost about 100 US Dollars. It'll tell you how much it is on the form when you get there. If your friend doesn't want to pay for that, he can attempt a home repair by following the guides on this site: http://xbox-experts.com/ Follow the walkthrough on the right bar. It will help you diagnose exactly what your problem is by getting a reading of his hidden four-digit error code and listing solutions. The most common is the X-clamp replacement fix, which they have full instructions for on that site. Good luck. [editline]01:25PM[/editline] Apparently there is a difference between the Australian and US support sites and the solutions pages offered. Here's the support page for Australia: http://www.xbox.com/en-AU/support/contact

It is usually caused by hardware (gpu) overheating. Make sure your xbox has enough space to 'breath' and keep it in a cool place. I have an x360 for like a year now and I've never got a RRoD
M14 it's the only way.
