It's still a great game.

I dunno, I haven't had that much fun with it.

I had way more than 100 hours of fun with it. Especially with friends, I think it was worth it.
me and my friends sat around for 8 hours on launch trying to play
we spent about 12 hours in total playing together, then all quit and never touched it again
i am still recovering from the overwhelming disappointment i felt for what was supposed to be the sequel to a game i and my friends have spent thousands of hours on over the years
Yeah, I lost almost all of my respect of Blizzard as they weren't able to deliver the game in the first two weeks of the release. The connection problems were massive and Blizzard had/has the money to prevent it.
But no, they didn't do anything, they just said "Please be patient, thanks". It was a fucking dick move.

It was an average game, and an abysmally terrible Diablo game.

Personally I'd give that title to Mass Effect 3.

then you haven't properly experienced diablo ll before experiencing diablo lll
I think if Blizzard released what Path of Exile is turning out to be, I'd have been more happy with it. At least then it would be different enough to not complain about how it doesn't size up to Diablo 2's greatness. Diablo 3 seemed to try and make all the things that made Diablo 2 loads of fun way too simple, and then slapped on the auction house (which made EVERYTHING too easy).
I think the major downfall was the delay of PvP, and the complete removal of runes and runewords. I felt like I was playing World of Warcraft meets Gauntlet with a hint of Diablo flavor...

Also, when they did add PvP, I half expected them to add some equivalent to Resilience from WoW.

The lack of Runes was indeed a downside; hell there wasn't much in the way of things to put in your weapon sockets anyways, only 4 types of Gem that did boring stuff. Also I miss the Horadric Cube and the Scrolls.
However, there's one thing that I wish would be implemented into more of these kinda games; the ability to rotate items in your Inventory. We've all had that problem; you're gathering the loots and then your guy says his bags are full, only for you to look and see that there is actually a space but it's the wrong shape, like you have a 3x2 space (first number being height, second number being width) and you want to fit in a 2x3 item into your inventory. I heard that Deus Ex: Human Revolution gave you the ability to rotate items and make the most of your bag space, and it worked well there, so why can't we have better inventory tetris in our dungeon crawlers?

Im not going to give that title to a bunch of loud whiny cunts. The only reason that got so much attention was because of the bandwagon effect. D3 was a terrible fucking game.
