It's weird. Both because of the price that Microsoft is paying, and because Notch seemed to take pride in the indie status of the company while making a fuss over big corporate take-overs.
So if this goes through we can safely assume there will be xbox exclusive minecraft content which would be terribly ironic considering the game's deep roots in PC (and also, notch's own views of big corporations...)
Having some professionals working on minecraft, would be better for the consumer in the end. Because currently they patch once every 9 months, and content wise the patch contains nothing but bunnies.
ok
I don't see Mojang growing anymore than they have already if they keep relying on Minecraft only. Minecraft won't die out anytime soon, but it will one day. I guess this is the optimal time for selling out, if they ever intend to do it.

Didn't EA try to buy Mojang and Notch declined?
Didn't EA try to buy Mojang and Notch declined?
yes but since microsoft is already half developing the game for them, it'd be in traditional mojang lazyness to have them just pass off the last of the development to them and go make a bunch of capes

Microsoft will no doubly kill Minecraft's modding community without a second thought which means no more railcraft, no industrialcraft, and no more buildcraft and hardwork of many modders will just simply cease to mean anything.
