• Finalizing Gaming Build

Before I buy all my parts, I was wondering if this build looks good. I am going to be using this for gaming and maybe bitcoin mining and rendering. I have no budget. Also, do I need an optical drive, wireless network adapter (I use wireless internet), and a CPU/Case fan? And could you guys suggest some speakers? Here is my current parts list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/YZYX Edit: Replaced the processor with an i5
Unless you're into heavy content creation (photoshop, maya, 3ds max, etc.) then you should get an i5-3570k instead of an i7. You can put the money you save from that into a better GPU. And dear jesus, get a smaller SSD and get a secondary drive for storage, you'll save a ton of money. If you want high capacity and speed, it'd be much cheaper to RAID0 some mechanical drives (like the ST1000M003.)
Anyone?
http://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-ProMedia-Certified-Computer-Speaker/dp/B000062VUO [editline]18th May 2013[/editline] and is the first part of that quote a question or a statement?
Your setup looks good, but holy fuck, A) get rid of that SSD or B) buy one with a lower capacity. Or for a fairly fast boot-up time, get a Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003-9YN192, it's a 1 TB hard drive, 7200 RPM and a 64MB cache. My computer is booted on this thing within 3/4 minutes depending on how quickly I log in. As for a WLAN adapter (wireless networking adapter), I would recommend a Gigabit-N adapter, these usually handle up/down - load speeds up to 300 MB/s. I do have a TP-LINK one laying somewhere on the floor in my bedroom (I got rid of it because our ISP gave us a shitty router with terrible data speed loss), before our stupid ISP it had approximately 50mb/s download speeds.
Alright, I went with the Seagate instead. Does the computer even need an adapter to connect to wireless internet? Here's the current build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/YbHC
yes you need an adapter, you can just get a cheap pci-e one
Is the Rosewill N900PCE an ok adapter? Also, could someone suggest some speakers?
I did a few posts up, Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 [editline]18th May 2013[/editline] and yeah the N900 will work fine
Alright, I have all the parts added. Will I need any CPU coolers or case fans?
you'll probably want a CPU cooler, Hyper 212 EVO if you don't feel like you'll be overclocking it super heavily, isn't too loud but it's definitely audible. Noctua NH-D14 if you want silence and high end cooling, not sure if it'll fit in the Corsair 200R though.
Okay, went with the EVO. Does the 200r come with a case fan? If not, will I need one?
it has a front fan and a rear fan preinstalled.
Ok, then I think I have everything. Thanks!
3/4 minutes is a really long time to boot.
Indeed it is.... On that note I want to point out that ssd is a decent option nowadays. It really only affects boot times though, and can easily be added latter. If you look at the specs of a line of ssd's- you will notice the larger ones are the fastest ones. IMO a 120(ish) gb is fine- and relatively cheap especially with sales.
250/500GB are faster than the 60/80/120GB drives, at least for the Samsung's.
Quick question, will this: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B008B6ONXA/?tag=pcpapi-20 work with all of my parts?
You might have problems fitting the Hyper212. It's a really tall CPU cooler (~165mm) and even cases with 120mm fans don't guarantee a proper fit. But you really won't know until you try installing it.

Yeah, my friend has a fractal core 1000 and there's no way a 212 Evo would fit, but the TX3 fits nicely.

I could probably pin two pieces of paper between the side of the case and the top of the heat sink.
So should I go with the TX3? If so, is this the one?: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103064&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=
oh it'll fit fine in a 200R [editline]21st May 2013[/editline] the 212 that is
I'm not talking about the 200R, I'm talking about the case I posted a little while ago: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B008B6ONXA/?tag=pcpapi-20
the two cases are the same width, and my bad I just looked at the OP, didn't realize you posted that [editline]21st May 2013[/editline] just pulled this off google images if you're unsure [t]https://i.minus.com/iEHHZjRv3ZURb.jpg[/t] [sp]might be the camera angle, but please don't botch the install like this person did, straighten out the heatsink before you screw it down and add the fan[/sp]
Alright, thanks!
Sorry to bump this, but will I be needing an optical drive?
Sorry to bump this, but will I be needing an optical drive?
A cheap one would do (say a cheap DVD-RW) but that is entirely up to you. Do you have any DVD's or CD's etc that you need/want to use?
I'm not going to be using the computer for watching movies or listening to music, just for games and other programs. What would be a good drive for that kind of stuff?
