• Need suggestions on a new gaming build. Budget of around 500$

I haven't been keeping up to date on the computer technology department much lately, So I don't know what is "the" stuff to upgrade too. It's going to most likely be the full meal deal, Although I might use the hard drive in the current computer I use. since I'm a bit lazy and don't feel like moving some of my files over too a new HD. on the flip side though it'd be a good chance to upgrade from Windows XP to Seven, but that's a bit pricey too. I'd like it to be fairly future-proof. Maxing ArmA 2 would be nice, Maybe GTA IV. (What do people benchmark with these days anyways) An Nvidia card would be nice since I'm used to their stuff, but if ATI would give me more bang for my buck I'd be content with that. I'm trying to keep this under 500$ but it can go over that, just not too much. about 200$ more (700$) is the limit. (and that's pushing it)
I'll try to make a build without an OS and HDD. [editline]5th November 2010[/editline] Wow, Phenoms are cheap as hell nowadays. Anyways, just overclock the Phenom to get improved performance at a cheaper price. $605. Anybody else have suggestions?

What's the difference between the CM690 II Advanced and the Basic? The only thing I'm seeing is a slightly larger front panel fan and five, as opposed to two, tool-less five-and-a-quarter-inch slots. But the basic doesn't have the blue LED fan so the temps are gonna be higher. [editline]5th November 2010[/editline] ah http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AubfqMN9XgE Up to you, OP. I'd go with advanced I guess cause it's not much more.

Did you build your last computer? If so I'm guessing you probably have a good enough power supply to throw in your new computer, and if you didn't build it then I wouldn't suggest using it unless it's around 600W + That would save you some more money anyway unless you want to upgrade if it's not modular or something.
