Can't really quote it since I'm on the iPhone right now but it bassiccaly said that the teacher deducted points at students who said god bless you.
People complained
He has no right.
Well, he most likely had a form/instructed the students before hand that they could/should not do it.
ooh look, I was right. Looks like they were pre-informed and just chose to say it anyway.
What a dick
"I think that's ridiculous. First the Pledge of Allegiance, now preventing a kid from saying 'Bless you?'" parent Alan Johnson told the station.
there's a difference between saying a pledge under God when not everybody is christian/catholic, and saying bless you.
I'm all for religion not being involved in education but this is not the way to handle it.
"When you sneezed in the old days, they thought you were dispelling evil spirits out of your body," Cuckovich told Fox40. "But today, what you're doing doesn't really make any sense any more."
this is also a really ignorant thing to say for a teacher.
"Gays don't have enough rights, but don't you EVER say GOD in MY CLASSROOM."

Right I mean even if it doesn't make sense and you have a different opinion on the subject, taking advantage of your power like this is just being a dick about it and trying to force your beliefs on to the students.
What a dick. Someone sneezes and you say god bless you it's 5 POINTS OFF YOUR CURRENT GRADE.
This is EXACTLY what my English teacher does. He doesn't deduct points, he just says "please don't do that" though.
I had an athiest biology teacher freshman year of highschool who would flip out at the mention of religion so of course everyone went out of the way to yell GOD BLESS YOU when someone sneezed.
She would send them to the principal and he would laaaaugh and then just send them back to class.

I find it terribly stupid that a teacher is childish enough to forbid a simple old meaningless expression.
Reminiscent of when I was 11 and I said 'D'oh' in class and my teacher scolded me because she thought the Simpsons was stupid. It's alright to not enjoy that statement but to try to ban it's use is just stupid.
Meaningless resistance against harmless words.
seems like he's saying that students were doing it to be annoying
i don't like the other half of his argument though.
*sneeze* - "God bless you" - "ARRGGHH I sense a disruption in the reality matrix, you, you'll get points deducted you matrix disruptor!"
I wonder if he always punishes students if they say some variation of "bless you".
allah bless u
*sneezes*

What a shit argument this is
A teacher shouldn't be able to just give his students a fucking form for this bullshit. And yet every time a teacher does some sort of shit like this, everyone says "Well what if they signed a form!"
People just need to respect other's religion and stop making female jokes! Period!
man when someone blesses me i'm flattered, i don't care what religion they are. all they're saying is "hey i hope bad things don't happen to you"

No female jokes?
Are you crazy woman?
I don't think he is anti-religious and I can see where he is coming from about it being disruptive. But it is common courtesy and part of manners.
"god bless you"
THAT'S IT, YOU LOSE POINTS
"god damn it"

I still don't understand why there's no alternative to god bless you,i mean we say 'for your good health' in free translation.

Also, wanted to clear things up a bit. He's saying that he doesn't care about the religious aspect of the phrase; by doesn't care I mean he's indifferent, he's not against religion or that fact that phrase is religious, that is of no concern to him. He's deducting points against people because the students are saying it at inappropriate times, or obnoxiously loud. Like during a test when someone sneezes, a student will yell, "GOD BLESS YOU!"
It's a case of stupid students doing stupid shit just to piss off their teacher.
who the fuck even says 'god bless you' when someone sneezes anyway?
