Detroiters waiting for RoboCop will have to wait a bit longer. The bronze statue of the fictional crime fighter -- funded through a successful Kickstarter campaign -- won't be revealed at its Detroit home this year, says the project's coordinator, Brandon Walley. The team behind the project is hoping for a spring 2012 reveal, says Walley, director of development at Imagination Station, a nonprofit in Corktown. "We're making sure it's done right and it's epic and as perfect as possible," he says. "We're not rushing on it, but it's been a slow and steady process." More than $67,000 was raised in March for the statue. Once a 7-foot model of the statue is built out of foam by San Francisco-based robot guru Fred Barton, a mold will be cast here and the statue will be bronzed, Walley says. The final statue will be 8 feet tall and stand on a 3- or 4-foot pedestal. Negotiations for a permanent location in Detroit are ongoing, but Walley says he's hopeful an agreement will be reached to host the statue at Tech Town, a business incubator at Wayne State University. doesn't detroit have bigger problems
doesn't detroit have bigger problems
Robocop makes them all better
No he doesn't, he blows them up
crime in detroit drops 30% in the next year
doesn't detroit have bigger problems
yep. In robocop, the solution to corruption and crime, was robocop. this is the closest we'll ever get to robocop.
I hate how some fucker is probably going to vandalize it. I'd buy a pipe wrench for a dollar and hit them in the back of the head with it.
at night, the statue comes to life and fights crime. they left that part out.
I have a feeling this statue will be vandalized in some way shortly after it's been set up.
statue's going to be wrecked I'm pretty sure
I have a feeling this statue will be vandalized in some way shortly after it's been set up.
It will probably be because of the disaster that was Robocop 3. Or Detroit.
Turns out it's not really a statue, but the actual real deal. Robocop then appears and saves Detroit from crime!
doesn't detroit have bigger problems
It wasn't funded by the city, and it's not like the guy is going to raise money to give to the city.
Oh man that's funny. An Ad for BP as they're walking through the abandoned factories of the Michigan Auto plants. Oh man, talk about irony.
I hate how some fucker is probably going to vandalize it. I'd buy a pipe wrench for a dollar and hit them in the back of the head with it.
Happens with most statues from what I've seen, even if minor. Such a god damn shame.
They should've put the statue in Dallas seeing as how the movie was filmed there. Hell, at least some sort of Robocop thing should be placed where it was filmed.

Still think it should be in Dallas.
They were originally going to put a ED-209 statue up but it fell over.

Fuck the robotic-pooolice
doesn't detroit have bigger problems
A severe lack of RoboCop statues.
They were originally going to put a ED-209 statue up but it fell over.
Chicken walker.
Why Robocop? That's so random..
statue's going to be wrecked I'm pretty sure
Not when there is RoboCop to protect it.
I went on vacation and came back to Dallas just a few days after they screened Robocop to the public. damn it all.
