I have a 2500 watt amp with a capacitor and 2 12' powerbass subs. I was wondering how i could hook all of this up to my computer (or anything else except my car)
I'm not proficient with audio, but reasonably the amp should have a line in or something? A wire from your PC's line out (green audio jack) to the amps line in should do it, I think.
Too dangerous and no point. You'd have all bass and none of the higher frequencies. The magnetism from the huge speaker coils would also likely cause problems with any magnetic media nearby, among other things.
if you want to use a car amp in the house you need a ( i forgot how it's called) that converts AC current to DC current from 120V/220V to 12V and you probably would need some sort of enclosure for the speakers if you dont have one
like, line in? line out? do you want to hook the amp into your pc or do you want to amplify the output? both are dumb as shit regardless
You need a rectifier.
And step down and a smoothing cap and a regulator. :eng101:

Problem is, these are subs so a computer power supply WILL NOT cut it as the power draw will be far too much. You will need a HEFTY power supply. Buy an actual power amplifier designed for mains power. Though all in all, a waste. If you don't have decent Mid-tops to go with them it is going to sound like crap. Even if you do - if these aren't in a proper TUNED enclosure for those particular speakers, it's still going to sound like crap. You will need a Low-pass filter too (OR a complete crossover system) if the amp doesn't have one onboard (Some car amps do)
What Tezzanator92 said, it is completely pointless because either way, it will sound like shit.
ok so these guys once know nothing about car audio OP take a lamp's wall cable and cut it off the lamp, strip back the casing, connect some of the wires to the power terminal on your amp and run a separate wire to the ground. It'll work great, for the turn on lead just wire a 9v battery up to it. gives some sick nasty azz bass

[/sarcasm] That's just going to lead to letting all the blue smoke out of the power circuitry in the amp. (I work with audio gear daily, I know what I am talking about) I have done this before, albeit with an underpowered power supply and not for anything requiring high power draws such as subs.
It will be like this:
As hilarious as that is (It got a genuine laugh out of me :v:) I hate people who (seem to) measure audio quality by the amount of overpowering, muddy, boxy, bass. (Have you seen some of the related videos?) This, Coming from a Bass player.
Bass is nice when tastefully done and the song requires it.
