• Using VLC to convert videos

It seems that there's really nothing short of Handbrake (which I have no fucking clue how to use) to convert videos nively. I have a bunch of videos in Adobe's FLV container format and VLC is the only thing that out of the box can play them. I can convert them to another format like MP4 or WMV but the CODEC recompression ruins the videos, ost of hich are already low quality rips from VHS or Umatic tapes. It appears that VLC supports exporting to an uncompressed avi format (otherwise known as DV NTSC) but you can't do it through graphical UI. It would be nice if the VLC forums could help here but they are equally as fucking useless when it comes to telling the lesser intelligent people how its done. Does anyone here know what to do?
What problems are you having with handbrake?
It only seems to want to convert audio. No, I'm not high.
I use format factory for quick and dirty personal not-to-be-published conversions not sure how great it is if you're looking to retain commercial quality though
Going to DV NTSC means absolutely no compression so if I'm still getting signs of quality loss after the conversion it's a no go.
Why not use FFMPEG for Win x86?

If you're going that route why not save yourself a few MB and just re-encode them to an HD resolution?
