• Need to Remove the Faceplate of a HP Compaq d220

My dad won an old (pretty much useless) HP Compaq d220 in his Work Raffle (they raffle off Old computers for like $5) He gave me to the computer, to see if there were any parts even worthwhile, right now I'm trying to remove the 'Faceplate' of the desktop, because there is a screw on the other side of the case, holding in the HDD (It's probably a useless old HDD, but I'd still like to see)
Either force it off, or use it as a home server.
Already have my old Desktop running for that :P [editline]11:51AM[/editline] Oh wait.... I found a way.... They sure like to make it easy. All I had to do, was take off the OTHER side of the case, get my screwdriver to fit in a ridiculously small hole, try and get the screws out with my hand, take off he Heatsink, and WUALA, I have the Harddrive!
bit late now but number 6.whatever http://bizsupport2.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00066142/c00066142.pdf [editline]05:04PM[/editline] why were you trying to take off the front bezel to remove a HDD anyway? you said yourself
there is a screw on the other side of the case
I didn't know that the other side came off, it looked like the Mobo was directly screwed on to that panel.. but I guess it was on a separate panel, hooked to the back of the case.
So did you find anything useful?
Nah. 1GB of Ram, Doesn't say the clock 40GB Western Digital HDD (Made in 2003) Standard CD Drive (and floppy drive) Pentium 4 2.8 CPU
Not bad as a server
i repaired one of those the other week you had to take both sides off and wrench the front off, if i remember correctly the HDD cage is removable. specs were celeron 2.4 512mb ddr 40 GB maxtor onboard video (no AGP slot)
Not bad as a server
What kinda server?
What kinda server?
if he swapped out the HDD then fie server but as is, it would be fine for a game server.
What kinda server?
It'd make a good router if you put two NICs in it. You could multipurpose it as a router / webserver also.
