Universal Studios filed a series of patents between October and November. Five in total were secured, but we’re interesting in two of them in particular, as they could be connected to the company’s partnership with Nintendo.
Orlando Business Journal discovered the various patents. The drift racers and boom coaster filings have potential of being related to Mario Kart and Donkey Kong respectively.
The first one is Probably Donkey Kong, The trick is people get on in a minecart that is attached to a fake rail, while the real rail is further below the passengers, this would allow for donkey kong country-style illusions where if the rail in front of you blows up, you can "jump" from the next broken rail and all that.
Boom coaster: This is a unique arm that would attach to a ride vehicle to help enhance rides that appear to be on a track system, but are actually controlled by a separate arm. For example, the arm could be C-shaped connected to a secondary hidden track underneath the track guests see. As a result, rides that have story element breaks in the track — say like an upcoming jump from one track to another — could cause suspense. “Because the passenger may believe that the simulated ride surface controls a path of the passenger vehicle, the passenger may fear or anticipate that the passenger vehicle may crash or otherwise incur damage as a result of the elevated gap,” said the patent. This has many fans thinking it could also be related to Nintendo via the Donkey Kong Country video game series, which features areas with cars traveling through dangerous mines filled with jumps, dips and turns.
The next one is probably mario kart, double dash styled. The Front seat controls driving and drifting stuff, while the back seat controls item throwing.
Drift racers: A two-rider, car-based amusement racing attraction with the ability to simulate drifting sensations. Two passengers, who could be in time/points competition with another car, will have control over some aspect of their ride vehicle: The driver would have a steering wheel and an acceleration and brake pedal to control the turning/drifting of the vehicle and speed; the rear passenger would have a control interface with buttons that could control the vehicle or bounce the ride vehicle, provide a boost to the vehicle during the race or affect the performance of another ride vehicle on the track, said the patent. For any Nintendo fan, that description brings to mind the video game company’s popular Mario Kart game series. In one version of the series, called Mario Kart: Double Dash, each car had two racers — including a driver and a rear passenger — who controlled the use of items during the race that could impact their car or others in the race.
completely unrelated to the article, there has been a concept rendering for Universal Studios Japan's Nintendo world:

that donkey kong ride sounds SICK AS HELL
These are really cool concepts. Universal kinda stepping it's game up.
Hopefully it turns out well! I'd love to try the Mario Kart one.

Disney got them beat on immersion (which is why disney world is so well done) so i guess universal is actually gonna try to be immersive for once.
wonder if they are gonna kill off marvel island and turn it into nintendo or they gonna expand in orlando like they did for harry potter.

Rumor is that the Woody Woodpecker/Fun Zone area is on the chopping block for this, along with ET.
isnt it dr seuss land in universal orlando or is that another part of the park

Dr. Seuss is in Islands of Adventure, which is Universal Studios second theme park. Super Nintendo Land is rumored to be put in the main park, kicking out Barney, ET, Woody Woodpecker and Fievel from American Tail.

Getting rid of ET is sad since it's so classic but it's probably a given. They already got rid of BTTF and Jaws to make room for newer things.
Hopefully I can go get on ET one more time. I've been able to ride the good rides before their closure each time. Earthquake/Disaster, BTTF, Jaws, Twister, etc.
I don't mind progress but it's always sad to see the old stuff go. It's not really like Disney where their movies are timeless classics. Things gotta be updated sometime.
I could see them killing off the Men in Black ride for "Drift Racers".
Aw man I hope not. I love that one and MIB 3 was still pretty recent. Hoping they keep it.
Good thing I'm taking the Mrs this year, I always wanted to take her on the E.T. ride. Either way I'm pretty excited to see how these attractions are gonna look, despite me being too scared to ride some of them

the Mib ride was one of my favorites :(

Take pics! I never got pics of the outside structures or the lines to the older rides and I'm regretting it tbh.

It's still there! And as far as I know, isn't going anywhere.
Wait, I thought Super Nintendo World was only for Japan? Or are they also doing one for the US?

Both Universal Hollywood and Universal Orlando have been confirmed to be getting it.
Holy shit, the Donkey Kong mine cart one (if it becomes that) looks fucking awesome!

Universal of Japan is getting it first as they want to have it done by Tokyo Olympic Games 2020, but it's confirmed that Hollywood and Orlando is getting them also, probably 1-2 years later after the Japan one.

Highly unlikely considering it's location.
Right next to it is the brand new Simpsons area which isn't going anywhere. The building is big but the only other space is the adjacent theater which is most likely being kept around because of its use for shows during Halloween Horror Nights.
The old kids area on the other hand is a huge space considering it goes all the way back to the Curious George kids area. That and the area in front of it is all pretty old and in need of redoing. I mean shit, the themes include Fievel, Woody Woodpecker, Curious George, and Barney. Not exactly big name products nowadays. Pretty much the only things worth keeping are ET (which could be cut due to its location and gigantic size) and maybe the Spongebob store.

Will do! I plan on capturing as much as I can, I'll keep it landscape mode too :v:
Sucks that ET could be on the cutting board for Nintendo stuff, so many fond memories on that ride
