• DIY human cyborg biohacks his own body with circadia implant (without anesthetic)
imagine a future of cyborgs, where people are capable of augmenting and monitoring their bio-telemetry via an external interface or smartphone on-the-go. biohacker tim cannon has done just that by implanting a device he has designed known as circadia into his forearm. circadia is a computer capable of recording and transmitting biometric data to android-powered devices. conceived with the help of the team from grindehouse wetware, the cyborg transformation has given cannon full access to his body’s biometric data in real-time. ‘I think that our environment should listen more accurately and more intuitively to what’s happening in our body,’ explains cannon. ‘if, for example, I’ve had a stressful day, the circadia will communicate that to my house and will prepare a nice relaxing atmosphere for when I get home.’ unlike other wearable tech like nike’s fuelband bracelet, the open-source device gives the user full control of how data is collected and used. communications for now include body temperature readings, which are enabled via bluetooth and an internet connection.
http://www.designboom.com/technology/diy-human-cyborg-biohacks-his-own-body-with-circadia-11-01-2013/ Some videos in the source, Jesus Christ [editline]1st November 2013[/editline] Another source http://www.bustle.com/articles/8107-man-implants-computer-chip-in-his-arm-diy-meet-cyborg
Jesus, that thing is huge. It'll be a wonder if he doesn't develop an infection of some kind.
Holy shit, awesome, but fuck that must've been painful!
Austin Powers much?
Subtle.
jesus christ so that's what that picture is. lol what happens when it runs out of battery.
Austin Powers much?
How in any way is this related to Austin Powers? Also this is cool as fuck, meat hackers are the people who are going to really kick off implants and shit. [editline]1st November 2013[/editline]
jesus christ so that's what that picture is. lol what happens when it runs out of battery.
The last picture shows him charging it.
OW. that is all.
what the fuck is he charging that through electromagnetic induction
putting the LEDs underneath his tattoo is pretty smart. not really worth cutting a hole in your arm and possibly getting it infected though
I think he might rupture something if he flexes too hard.
I think he might rupture something if he flexes too hard.
Nah man skin is pretty stretchy.
Oh my god I feel so squeamish looking at it. That has to be so uncomfortable why on earth would you do that?
Oh my god I feel so squeamish looking at it. That has to be so uncomfortable why on earth would you do that?
don't look at any body mod pictures then :V some of the shit i've seen is insane
what the hell, i was expecting it to be something tiny and subtle, not a PHONE embedded into your arm
Oh my god I feel so squeamish looking at it. Neat
If he adds anymore he will be the first actual borg drone You will be assimilated, resistance is futile.
Nah man skin is pretty stretchy.
Yeah, but lithium batteries aren't.
He has to get infected doing that.
Yeah, but lithium batteries aren't.
Imagine a faulty lithium battery fire or worse, explosion in your arm. What a wake up call that would be, or if he wakes up at-all.
Why would anyone do this? The device isn't measuring much that requires direct contact with the blood, so why on earth would you implant it under the skin? Why not just wear it on an elastic band, where it isn't unsightly and risking infection now or poisoning later as it inevitably corrodes? If you really need metrics from inside the body, then why not use a probe shaped like a needle piercing the skin with the rest of the unit kept external? And if he's ever in an accident and undergoes an MRI, it will literally rip the device out of his arm. This isn't a scientific breakthrough, it's an irresponsible and dangerous chop-shop procedure with little tangible benefit.

Great job! ...What does it do?
jesus christ so that's what that picture is. lol what happens when it runs out of battery.
He places a charging coil against his skin and lets it recharge. There was a video about it in the source.

Also, transdermal implants get infections like nothing else, so your idea is probably worse.

WELL GEE, how about you try to not-die by, I don't know, not shoving dirty-ass blocks under your skin and poorly stitching it up?
Can he make that thing any larger? You know, something like an xbox power brick in your arm.
Is there a reason why this had to be done without anesthesia?
