Fuck yes. I bought this game in... 2011 or 2012? Jesus this is exciting
but there's still nothing to do, if he had actually actively worked on it for at least 3 of those years it would have been great he basically stopped giving a shit after making lodsa dosh on HB
Still waiting for this to become more than an impressive tech demo. I was a hyped 12 year old like 6 years ago, now I'm just someone who's given up on this being anything anymore since all development dropped off the face of the earth.
Call me again when it is done. Overgrowth really started out good, with decent regular updates but those stopped one time, then only continued slowly. Now they need some actual content, just sandbox fights are no fun after a while, even if the combat is pretty cool.
iirc they remade the entire campaign of Lugaru in overgrowth so theres that
It's a terribly short campaign, especially compared to what they initially planned for Overgrowth.
Overgrowth was one of those games that I thought couldn't go wrong when there was actually progress being made on it. I don't want to say it's shit or anything but I'm definitely disappointed. I don't think I'll ever play it as I just have no interest in it after coming back to it so many times and it still having nothing to do.
12 years to go
The dev got distracted and went to rant about how evil people he disagreed with on twitter are instead of actually developing his game for a year or two there. Surprised he ever resumed.
I've been hearing the name of this game recently (in response to a random project I've been sculpting in zbrush) but hadn't seen anything til now. Watched a few dev videos, and while there's some neat under-the-hood stuff and a whole in-engine editor going on, it REALLY looks like a person's first UE/Unity project using storebought animations, fight scripts, and level assets and I'm rather underwhelmed
They make it sound like that David Rosen is a single poor developer working on it for the last 8 years which is completely misleading and false. If you followed them on Youtube since 2009 you would know several people posted developer videos there, with the latest guy being some Lukas Owl...schwan or something. In this video at 1:00 this Lukas guy also mentions how they expanded the team, and 5 to 23 people are working on it (including contractors and stuff). Fucking christ. Almost 8 years since I made the whale man statue for this. One of my first completed character models. Haven't really kept up with development since.

They spent ages making an engine instead of a game, and then got overshadowed by those.

They built something from the ground up and poured a lot of relative work into it, but from what I'm understanding in these threads they've been dragging ass a bit and it's suffering majorly from looking like an indie 3D game/mod from 5+ years back
