So, I got a new HP laptop about 3 months ago, and this is the temperatures I can get:

I think that it's pretty bad, even for a HP laptop. To make it all worse, I wasn't playing any games at the time, I was just watching videos on YouTube. This is my laptop: http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/dk/da/ho/WF06b/321957-321957-3329744-64354-64354-5046247-5097276.html (coudln't find any english links, sorry.)
Use Hardware Monitor just to confirm, speed fan has been known to give false temps.

Looks normal for a laptop.

Okay, thanks. I just used whatever Google suggested me.

Really? I think it's bad. My laptop might melt when I'm gaming one day.
I cant believe that you spend 8K euros on a laptop.
I cant believe that you spend 8K euros on a laptop.
That's ~850 euros, it's 8000SEK.
Clean the fans, buy a cooling pad or smth. And do not hold it on your lap or any clothing.
Tada!
Question...
What model laptop is it?
"HP" doesn't give enough info.
try to put it on a flat surface when you use it, rather than your lap. helps ventilation
[editline]13th August 2011[/editline]
for example: I bought a bedside table because I was watching the lord of the rings in bed once with it on my lap because the processor was going up to 81c at times
I had an HP Pavilion, and that thing overheated like hell and eventually died in two months. Guess we're some of the unlucky ones, as others have had a good experience with them, but I know I am never buying an HP notebook again.

This. The DV series is absolute shit.
Dv series or jetengine series, have horrible cooling.
This. The DV series is absolute shit.
Yep, I had a dv5 that lasted through November 2008 to July 2010.

My Acer Aspire is at 47 right now, HP's must be quite bad for overheating.
HP all around has lost quality.
I have a HP laptop and my processor idles around 60C, under heavy load 85C.
GPU idle 70C, load 80-100C.
HP is just awful, you should have bought something else but I guess your stuck with it like I am.
Is HP laptops really this bad?
I need to check my school laptop if it is that bad also.
That's normal for a HP DVsomething laptop.
I know because i have one myself.
Just for future reference, HP makes shitty laptops.
A friend of mine managed to bring down his temps from 100C to 50C on his DV series by adding some thermal paste. Apparently they really skimped out on it.

Wouldn't surprise me.
HP has a habit of cutting corners.

Gotta love the DV series. And the best part is that each of those has anywhere from three to twenty laptops in a sub-category.
Wouldn't surprise me.

I remember I had a dv9000. Was completely unusable, since it would overheat just browsing the internet. :saddowns:
Well, I bought a netbook cooler. Have been thinking about it a long time. Got my temp down about 8°C and the netbook runs better. Guess it was to hot before.

I have a HP probook 4510s if you wonder.
This happened to my laptop and it kept shutting down repeatedly until I had a look inside and literally pulled out half a cat in dust/hair from the fan. I'd reccomend having a look just in case to see if it'll help anything further.

Assuming that the little "fire" icon is a good thing, id say your in decent shape.
But on a more serious note, get a cooling pad preferably one that runs fast and has multiple fans. I bought one for my acer a few years back when i played wow on that guy for hours at a time (Yeah i was that guy) and now that i built my own PC and sold the acer (borderline gave it away) my laptop cooler sits under my xbox360, elevates it and keeps it nice and cool. The 3 times a month i watch a movie on it that is.
