I can't find any good English articles....
The worlds virtual Hatsune Miku had another concert yesterday in Japan. I with many fans were disappointed. Instead of a interesting crystal holographic display it was a big tv screen. Even the graphics were rather bad. Enough chat, heres a video of last years and yesterdays. Last years concert, highly popular Vocaloid Luka Megurine - Just be Friends And this years. Hatsune Miku playing KZ Livtunes - Yellow
In other news. Miku appearance at Shangai concert. Miku is actually wayy bigger then you think. There planing US vocaloid stores. All of you rating clocks this happened yesterday : / ALL of you still rating clocks, the concert happed this week. Read the article
Only virtual group worth seeing live is Gorillaz.
WOW. We truly are living in the FUTURE.
Theres so much Rule 34 on her I swear
Bad choice of thread. Facepunch hates this kind of thing. Wait, how is this news? Edit: Oh I see. There was a disappointing concert...? Still...
Only virtual group worth seeing live is Gorillaz.
Most people will rage at her cause her voice is also a computer, but the Gorillaz did the same "hologram" tv a while back ago. I also have Luka Megurine's vocaloid software. She has a English voice bank as well as Japanese :D [editline]10th March 2011[/editline]
Bad choice of thread. Wow, I wished it was more realistic looking.
How they do it :silent:
Wow, I'd hope it was realistic looking but after looking at the name I'd think it'd be anime like.
Last years concert looked wayyy more realistic. Unless your talking about the art style
Cant wait to tell my children that holograms were first used to make nerds dreams come true.
Asians
Asians
Japanese...
Cant wait to tell my children that holograms were first used to make nerds dreams come true.
Assuming that the future isn't going to be completely filled with nerds because of advancements in technology and an increasing interest in gaming/software development culture. Two decades ago, people our age would never have been interested in niche communities like FP, etc. The population is getting way more nerdy as a whole.
how many threads can people make about this?
Japanese...
To be fair, though, he is technically correct.
how many threads can people make about this?
Its fucking holograms. This si the thing your mom and dad thought the 21st century would be filled with and is in every sci fi movie/book ever. So yea. Not to mention they put starwars holograms to shame.
Because life is boring and living fantasies is not. kinda
Would you consider forums, nerdy hardware conversations, internet culture, etc. to be fantasies? ಠ_ಠ
what in the flying fucK
there was like a 15 page thread on this in the video/flash section.
What the flying fuck is wrong with people? Who the hell goes to a concert to watch a giant screen of a fictitious person perform pre-recorded and uninspired garbage? There's no artistry or allure, there's no performance, no excersize of talent and exhibition of practice and hard work, it's pre-rendered. It's fine for a youtube video but what the fuck, people attend "concerts" for this shit? What the hell? I'm dying inside watching this. I didn't think the world could get any better at destroying everything good about music after Bieber and Boy Bands and BOTDF and Brokencyde, but I was just wrong, so wrong. I think I'm going to go cry.
Bad choice of thread. Facepunch hates this kind of thing. Wait, how is this news? Edit: Oh I see. There was a disappointing concert...? Still...
It wasn't as good as last year's, but it wasn't terrible. It was set up by totally different organizers this time, so that's probably why. It was still a great concert, though. The music that comes from the Vocaloid community is just amazing. Also I don't know why everyone keeps calling them holograms...neither of these concerts have used holograms. The first concert used a transparent screen and the second one just used a regular screen (so that they could so more vivid effects this time...but last year's looked a bit more real; they really dropped the ball on that). Oh well. The most important thing is that the music was great and it definitely was.
The music is "meh" but the technology used for it looks cool.

People have different tastes and they'll listen to whatever suits their taste. If you think music was great decades ago (and I do agree), then just keep listening to music from decades ago. And in specific defense for this Vocaloid music, the live concerts had actual live bands. Just not a live singer, which would be impossible to achieve since Vocaloid 'voices' are produced from a computer program and can't exactly be produced live. I just see the Vocaloid 'voice' as another instrument and if they have to play it pre-recorded in order to do a concert then so be it; a lot of the actual songs that have been composed amongst the Vocaloid community are fantastic and a lot of them really come alive when done by a live band. I guess you'd have to be a long-time fan to appreciate what they did.

But ranting like that is a little inconsiderate and actually pretty annoying imo. Edit: Meh 1700th post. :v:
Isn't this Hastune Miku the one who "made" that vegetable song?
Isn't this Hastune Miku the one who "made" that vegetable song?
Yeah, but most simplistic, catchy Vocaloid songs like that are rather old and are only still around because they're popular mainstays from when the Vocaloid 'genre' was young. Most recent Vocaloid hits are a lot more fleshed out and dramatic; it's growing all the time.
well i mean they aren't very real soo :P
Yeah, and any thoughts/verbal discussions/ideas you've ever had aren't real either because they're not physically tangible.
