• Internet basically dead?

So recently my internet has been acting up. Two days ago, and for the forseeable past before it, I was downloading files from Garrysmod, among other sites, at around 360 or so kb/s. Two nights ago I was also uploading about 430 to Filefront. Yesterday morning my internet was fine, and about midday, around 12 PM it plummeted. I was downloading at about 9 kb/s. It got a bit better, up to about 50-100 kb/s, but was still entirely substandard. The speeds stuck today, and around 30 minutes ago I restarted the router and modem. Generally, at any given time there's 3 computers hooked up; my desktop by direct wire connection to the router, and 2 laptops by Wi-Fi. Before restarting, I was downloading Left 4 Dead from Steam at approximately 100-130 kb/s. After, I'm back to around 9. My whole family is noticing the difference in speed, and many basic pages are having trouble loading. I also tried to use Speedtest.net; before it took the lower speeds, and now it takes ping and freezes. Up to this point, I haven't called my ISP. I'm planning to shortly after this post. The connection is supposed to be 100 Mb/s with no bandwith cap to my knowledge under what is now Century Link. It has worked fine until now, and honestly I'd be more content being entirely disconnected. I'm running a full virus scan on my computer just in case, though I doubt that's the problem. I honestly think it's a problem on the ISP's end. I just hope no dirty business practices are involved, and I'm also hoping it's an issue the ISP has that will be fixed with gusto.
Damnit, I only have 20mb and my internet connection can barely cope with a pc and xbox live.

Have you checked to make sure you haven't used up your monthly allowance?
Have you checked to make sure you haven't used up your monthly allowance?
That's the thing, there isn't one. I think, anyways. I also realized I don't have 100 Mb/s, that's the actual connection. The speed is, and I believe we're paying for, a 1.5-2 Mb/s. ISP only goes to 10. That'd be awesome. Also, only 20 Mb/s? Judging by your issues, I think you're grossly overestimating like I was, or I'm a bit less spoiled than I think.

If the connection is constantly turning to shit a set period of time after you reset the modem, it could either be a cap or there's something wrong with the modem.
