I'm gonna get straight to it... I don't want my future to be determined by people like these; Don't worry, these two morons won't win the primaries, but the cold hard fact is: THE CANDIDATE THAT ACTUALLY WILL GET ELECTED WILL HAVE PRACTICALLY IDENTICAL POLICIES. Maybe a little less socially regressive, but still the same economic policies. He just won't be an idiot like these two, so people will take him seriously. I am a student in his first year in college. Thanks to Obama's(and some other Democrats) funding of education, I am able to afford to attend a good University and get my Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Yes, I do have to pull a few strings here and there, and I do have less time for liesure due to my workload, but I am happy to know that I have a future ahead of me. However, my education will not finish by 2012(BS in 2014, MS in 2016), so legislature will have a huge effect on me. College is becoming more expensive by the year and I know for a FACT that should Obama lose his position, I will be in financial turmoil, as well as the thousands of other students who are in the same position. Why? Because they want to reduce funding in education. Some of them don't even believe in public education because it is too "socialist." I am also part of a religious/ethnic minority that faces discrimination in the media, politics and everyday life. From a grand agreement in my community, we have come to the conclusion that hatred/spreading fear of people of my descent is a platform for the other party. Yes, the party has been getting a substantial amount of token minorities; but these people are: a) probably assimilate/americanized or b) refugees that came from a country in turmoil or c) agrees with the economic policies but completely unaware/unconcerned about social. I want a president who is socially progressive. Also, although Obama is sort of pretentious, he is an excellent foreign diplomat. Yes, the Nobel Peace Prize was early, but he is the type of guy which a lot of people respect. He is black AND he grew up around muslims. Believe me, having him for a president definitely reduces our risk in conflict. I don't want another 9/11 or bus-bombing because we elected a bigot. Believe me, I told myself that I will abstain from voting. I am really apathetic when it comes to politics, and I usually don't give a rat's ass about any politician. I knew democracy was inefficient in America... but in the end...this election may be one of the very few elections that determines everything for us. The fact is, we are in fucking shit, and we need to avoid becoming post WWI Germany. A lot of us will start college...and that stuff is expensive. I know he is not the best, but really, he is the best that we have right now. Too many people who have no idea how the economy works are basically spreading lies about how tax-breaks and laissez-faire will make the conditions of America better. It won't. This is probably stupid to a lot of us, but we really need Obama for another 4 years. Also, I often visit an area where there are a lot of blacks. Crime rates there had been low since Obama got elected. I don't want that to change. We actually need to vote in 2012. Edit: I know there are a lot of political snobs out there, so I just want to give a discretion; I took only 2 college classes on economics, and 1 on political science during my senior year in high school. I read a couple of libertarian & socialist essays. I know what I am talking about, but I don't want to bore FP.
Those idiots will NEVER win, if the United States isn't literally retarded they won't get into the primaries [editline]28th October 2010[/editline] They make me mad to look at, I mad
Give OP agree if you are going to vote (or want to) for Obama. Give disagree if opposite
I'd rather somebody else just ran.
I'd rather Bill Clinton was president again
I honestly doubt Obama will win a second term. Nothing major has happened and he hasn't done anything major. When I say major, I mean twin tower major. That helped Bush a lot.
I'd rather somebody else just ran.
Not surprised by your username, facist.
I honestly doubt Obama will win a second term. Nothing major has happened and he hasn't done anything major. When I say major, I mean twin tower major. That helped Bush a lot.
Not every president comes with a national tragedy smart ass.
I honestly doubt Obama will win a second term. Nothing major has happened and he hasn't done anything major. When I say major, I mean twin tower major.
I honestly doubt Obama will win a second term. Nothing major has happened and he hasn't done anything major.
He still has some ways to go.
I still think Health Care reform and helping us after an economic collapse as bad as the Great Depression to be somewhat major.
Great depression was like...90% unemployed...we aren't anywhere near that level
Oh shit. Apocalypse is gonna come, and one of these bitches is gonna bring it. Gonna try to stop being an atheist liberal to save my self. Shit. I mean what are the chances that the Mayans stopped their calendars just before the end of December of 2012, and that the new president of the US comes in a few days after that date? Crap. Shit. Balls.
Great depression was like...90% unemployed...we aren't anywhere near that level
21%
He hasn't done anything major because the republicans have blocked everything he tries, then accuse him of not doing anything. It works on most people, unfortunately. I used to completely dismiss the idea someone as dumb as Palin could possibly win the presidential elections, but now I'm not so sure. The bailouts were republican legislation that Obama was unable to stop.
21%
That's 69% away, why did you get zings
I'd totally fuck Christine O'Donnell I don't care how much of a dumb cunt she is. just saying.
You got 5 zings for pointing out a percentage that is nowhere near the one I presented? Are you guys asleep or something?
Why should I vote for another run of the mill demagogue, for a second term? If anything, I'll vote for Giuliani for president, if he gets the nomination. If he doesn't get it well... And that can even be voted down by the majority.
"If humans evolved from monkeys, why aren't monkeys still turning into humans?"
You got 5 zings for pointing out a percentage that is nowhere near the one I presented? Are you guys asleep or something?
who gives a fuck about ratings you loser
there will be a real candidate for president for the republicans, i doubt they'll let either the nutjob or the idiot get anywhere near a podium
who gives a fuck about ratings you loser
It's the idea of the thing you loser
That's 69% away, why did you get zings
Because the Great Depression had roughly 21% unemployment(as Caboose stated), not 90%. You just pulled the figure "90%" out of your ass. That is why he has more zings than you. Also, the unemployment in our era spiked to 17% a year ago. After Obama got inaugurated, it declined.
Why should I vote for another run of the mill demagogue, for a second term? If anything, I'll vote for Giuliani for president, if he gets the nomination.
The Republican's can't block shit, all they can do is have a filibuster. And that can even be voted down by the majority.
which iirc the republicans have the majority
which iirc the republicans have the majority
They usually just threaten a filibuster. If they actually went through with the threats, they've sunk to a new low. They could practically read off a phone book just to prevent the hall from being used.
Not every president comes with a national tragedy smart ass.
Yeah, that's why most people can't name all the presidents.
America's dying because we don't produce anything anymore. 12 million cell phones were sold last year, 0 of them were made in America. Our production is dying because it's too expensive to make products in America. Why is it too expensive? Our government regulates EVERYTHING, taxes are getting higher each year, plus now it's required to have health care for all employees. Believe me, I don't want some fucking religious conservative in office (Palin, O'Donnell), but just someone who will get the country back in it's feet the right way. I'm not voting for Obama in 2012 because I don't believe his policies will work. Unless a fucking miracle happens and production goes up, debt goes down, and we all live in the Utopian States of America, he's not getting my vote.
