Is it okay? Will it damage the battery? On the battery, it specifies that it is a "NickelCadmium" Battery. It is an 8.4v battery that was included with my gun.
Go ahead. Nothing will happen.

Alright, I know this isn't really thread worthy, but I just want to confirm this because I've heard from a few sources that it can ruin the "cells" of the battery if you charge it while it's half empty.
I use this smart charger, by the way:

Batteries these days are much higher quality than the batteries of years back. Trust me, it will be fine.
I'll take your word on it. Also since this question is relevant, should I store my gun with the battery plugged in? Or should I unplug it from the gun?
I prefer to remove it, mostly out of fear of what happens when I don't. It isn't much harder to put it back anyway.
I perfer to think of it as a half full battery.
Nope, if it's NiCd then you have to drain it before recharging. If it was NihM then you wouldn't have to discharge it.
Remember, questions like this really should go in this thread.

Wrong. China still gives the crappy NiCD batteries with their guns. These batteries have battery memory, meaning they must be fully drained or the battery memory effect takes place. If you tried to charge it when it was half charged you would lower the life of the battery and it won't fire as many rounds.
I'd strongly recommend upgrading to NiMH batteries. They're around the same price and size but do not have battery memory, so you can charge those at any time.

I use this. It makes life a whole lot easier. I have a friend who still uses the ol' default wall charger
It also saved me when I got my large type battery, I was freaking out until I realised that the smart charger came with a little adaptor for it so I didn't waste my battery :downs:
Next on my list, smart charger/

I see. Could you recommend a particular type of battery?

If you own a airsoft gun and use it, a smart charger is a must IMO.

Hm, it is a large type battery. Though I'm not sure of the mAH of the current battery I'm using. Will using too high mAh damage the gun? A very fast ROF is not necessary for me, as I play field and not CQB.
mah will only effect the size of the battery and how long it lasts, mah can never harm your gun.
You were thinking about voltage 8.4 is pretty much the standard.
Only the voltage will affect your ROF. I prefer more voltage mainly for the faster trigger response time, not necessarily for the ROF. If you gun can take a 9.6v, I'd recommend one.

Oh okay, I thought when you said "More mAH, more shots" you meant ROF. A NiMH battery will be my next investment then. But they're a bit pricey for me so I'll have to save up.
They're worth it in the end. A good one such as Intellect will last you for years. Mines at least 4 years old and still works.
Does keeping a battery charged damage it?
if its a NiCd, probably, regardless, I keep all my batteries discharged.
Shoot most of my batteries are always partially charged. Doesn't seem to hurt them, except the cheap 8.4v chinese NiCD's I have but I could really care less about those.
