hey guys, I've been looking to get a new computer for a while now. I've had a look at a few Mac's and I was really just wondering whether they are worth the money? I'll mainly be using image/video editing software, but I was also planning on doing some light gaming e.g. Wow, Protal, Starcraft. Will the new iMac's be able to run these games? I can laso just build a windows machine, but i've been using Mac's alot in coolege recently and I really enjoy using them. Thanks for any replies.
If you like the operating system you could make a hackintosh system for much cheaper. If you choose certain hardware, you can build your own computer which can run OSX Lion. As far as I know, the Apple keyboard and mouse will also work since it's usb.
Yea there is always that option, I did want to actually purchase one really.
The highest end 27" iMac will get the job done for most image/video enthusiasts. If you demand more power though, the 3.4ghz i7 option is the FASTEST processor you will ever see in an AIO...
If you have the budget I say you max out the processor, the 3.4ghz i7's coupled with the 6970m will
make the baseline Mac Pro's cry. If you can only afford the baseline 21.5" iMac, I really reccomend you go Hackintosh, because you get alot more of what you want for the money...
I agree that if you want an iMac the 27 inch is the only sensible option. The LCD panel in the 27 inch iMac is worth like £700 alone and the rest of even the basic 27 inch iMac isn't a bad computer. If you are in college look into getting student discount. I think it is somewhere in the region of 15% on Macs (though it might be more)
