Cops tell us Godfrey was struck around 2:30 PM and got pinned underneath the car. When emergency responders arrived, a citizen had already moved her from the wreckage ... and she was rushed to the hospital by ambulance.
http://www.tmz.com/2015/02/02/bold-and-the-beautiful-car-accident-linsey-godfrey-hit-by-car-sidewalk/ (yes, fuck tmz but it's the most articulated version of the incident so far) Legs pinned? Blood loss? (User was banned for this post ("shit title" - dai))
Two broken legs is not 'basically dead'.
The headline would have been sensationalist enough by itself!!
Two broken legs is not 'basically dead'.
Depends on how you break them. Usually getting rammed by a large vehicle tends to fuck your system up physically, especially when it comes to legs.
Two broken legs is not 'basically dead'.
Dead in the sense that her career has been halted indefinitely and that unless she recovers, the media will forget about her. I guess. When I read 'basically dead', I envisioned deep coma or severe brain trauma at the very least.

Critical condition, maybe, but you seem to have no idea how sturdy the human body is. I've been first responding to a girl who had her leg ripped off by a car ramming her, snapping the bone and tearing the muscle apart so the leg was hanging by just the skin on one side. She walked out of the hospital just a few weeks later.

Title is dumb; we have no idea if she was just knocked out or had a few broken bones or is brain dead or what.
No idea who she is, I guess she'll be in a wheelchair for a while
Holy shit I want to know more about that story. Were her legs basically good as new when she left or were there still issues with it?
She had those hand-stilt-things that I cannot remember the English word for for a month or two afterwards, but now she's totally fine, far as I know. Walks as good as she's ever done, in any case. Funny/lucky part of the story; shock or confusion or whatever when she got hit made her not quite realize what had happened, so she was like 'Fuck, I think I sprained my ankle' after I carried her to the sidewalk and propped her head and injury up. So I tossed my jacket over it to hide it and went 'Yeah, it's definitely sprained. Might be broken, but it doesn't look that bad'. Meanwhile, purple, yoghurty blood everywhere.
Thought this was the female who was found in a bathtub who is actually fighting for her life. ninja edit: Bobbi Brown is the one I was thinking of
Now, I say 'everywhere', but it really didn't bleed that bad. It was about... 20 - 35 minutes from she was hit to ambulance arrived, and she certainly didn't lose more than half a liter of blood from the injury. As I said, the body's a sturdy motherfucker. Blood loss from blunt injuries (Non-cuts) is really quite minimal.
Crutches?
These, I think.

She walked out of the hospital just a few weeks later.
That's the most impressive part of your anecdote, honestly. Modern medical science is something else entirely. Walking out of the hospital on a leg that was ripped off by a car...mmm, science. Gotta love it.
Need you to expand on what you mean by that last part because injuries that arent cuts can cause internal bleeding which is incredibly severe.
Tearing and cutting is pretty different, far as i can gather. Cutting is much, much 'cleaner' and the body doesn't react as well to that. I ain't no doctor, so you'd need Zoneslyvania or whatever his name is to get up in here and explain the science behind it, but basically, your arteries clench their little artery-anuses up like you do when you haven't read and the teacher looks at you in class; which greatly reduces bloodflow and thus slows bleeding a hell of a lot down. Now, yeah, internal bleeding can fuck you over something fierce, but not really in the leg-area. It's more in your organ-pile area from your pelvis to your shoulders you need to be worried about. And then your brainy-bits. Those are pretty important too.
Need you to expand on what you mean by that last part because injuries that arent cuts can cause internal bleeding which is incredibly severe.
Well with the legs the biggest worry is that the bone breaks and rips up blood vessels, arteries and shit, if that doesn't happen then your legs can be pretty okay, as long as the pelvis alright then you're basically in a lot of pain and immobile but really things could be much worse, a lot of animals that break there legs end up with a death sentence.
Now, uh, a torn limb will start bleeding as hell after your artery-anuses get tired and unclench, but it buys a ton of time for the injured person to receive help.
With both her legs...? Because holy shit if the leg was saved afterwards.
Well, walking with one leg is kinda more like hopping, is it not?
Protheses exist and I'd imagine that with such an injury she'd need those
