With regulators signing off, we knew it was just a matter of time before Sony's buyout of mobile partner Ericsson was complete, and it looks like today's the day. Sony has announced that it has finished its acquisition of Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson's 50-percent stake in Sony Ericsson, a move that came at a cost of €1.05 billion ($1.47 billion). While Sony has already begun rebranding Sony Ericsson products under its own name, the company also announced that it would be renaming its mobile unit Sony Mobile Communications as part of a larger strategy to unite the company's various departments under the leadership of new CEO Kazuo Hirai.
rip!
I used to peel of the logo of my sisters phones, they were cool
I had one of their phones, it was one of those walkman phones. It was okay I guess.
i swear this happened ages ago.
I still remember the Ericsson logo on phones

God damn I'm getting old
Heh, Sony Erection.
I had a w595s for 2 years before getting a Galaxy S2, it was awesome
my w810i survived the whole year i spent in the military. great quality
Onto a bright future, THE ION IS COMING!

Oh god no, the most reliable flip-open-y phone I owned was a Sony Ericsson.
Ericsson made the stop-light buttons or something in Brighton.
their logo was on it for whatever reason.
A minute of silence for the best company before Androids and iOS entered the market. All my dump phones were from Sony Ericsson, they were stable and easy to use - you will be sincerely missed...
Or I guess nothing changes and they still make the same phones but as a different brand.
Won't really change anything other than make sony more inclined to making a proper "playstation phone".
My first 2 mobile phones were Sony Ericsson - they were pretty good phones.
Damn i loved their walkman phones.

Sometimes, I still use the W810i instead of my iPhone. There's just this feeling it has. Mm.
My dream as a kid was to always get one of these; instead I had shitty beat up hand-me-down phones.
Of course, I'm not bitching about having a phone in the first place. I'm glad I was even given a phone.
Sony Mobile Communications eh.
Just rolls right off the tongue don't it?

I dropped mine about 20 meters and it still worked but I don't remember it being the same exact model.
Their phones were alright, the vivaz was total crap though.

I got really pissed at my boss when talking with him on the phone, instead of hanging up I tossed my old k700i on asphalt as hard as I could.
I picked it up and other then the fact that all the metal casing was bent, distorted and dented and the screen was cracked, the phone functioned properly.

It's like a Nokia 3310, except it has a camera and combo blitz/flashlight, can play music and small videos and can browse the internet.
I used to have some Walkman phone with over a hundred games on it.
And I will probably call those new Sony phones for Sony Ericsson
Sony Ericsson J230i and k810i represent!
Sony Ericsson made the best damn phones ever. Right now I'm using a 5 and a half years old SE K600i, and guess how long the battery lasts? Five damn days. It's the same battery that came with the phone. Oh, and it also fell into a river once, and survived. I love this thing.
this is a sad day in the mobile world
