The oldest person in the UK, Grace Jones, has died at the age of 113, her MP Simon Hughes has confirmed.
The Londoner was the last British person to be born in the 1800s.
Miss Jones who lived in Bermondsey, south-east London, and was the sixth oldest person in the world, had a fall a few weeks ago and was treated at St Thomas' Hospital.
not a slave to the rhythm anymore i guess :(
That's sad that it was a fall that killed her.
She should have gone peacefully in her home
Fuck, 113 years, considering what she survived (two world wars and a shit ton of different diseases, epidemics and other potential life ending experiences) and what she witnessed change that's just incredible.
The end of an era.
She grew up when lightbulbs and motor vehicles were growing in availability, and died with the internet and an international space station.
That's quite a humbling thought.
She was alive long enough to see the height and fall of an empire

Imagine all the cool shit we'll be too old to properly understand in 80 years time!

I'd love to see full space and planetary colonization happen, and see no use of fossil fuels and having space travel as the norm
She was 65 in the 60s.

We might not be able to live long enough to see full space and planet colonization to become a thing. But we could witness the end of diseases like Parkinson's, Alzheimers, even the dreaded Cancer.
We might even be the last generation to have a puny mortality of just seventy or so years. Our children will outlive us, and their will outlive them. The next few years are very promising for medicine.

I'm at the age where I know what AOL is and what it's like to have dial up
but I've also SEEN the death of dial up and AOL, and soon I'll see the death of CD's, DVD's, eventually, blue ray, the rise of digital distribution and motion tracking, the rise of 3d printing and robotics, the rise of a lot, lot more technology.
but you know what?

I'm not going to understand any of this cool new shit and I'll go "back in my day I had a GTX 770, and 1tb / 64 gb's of hard drive space"
my asshole of a great grandson will go "HA! what are you going to play on that, a driving simulator?"
then I'm going to poo my pants, because I'm so old. He'll afterwards go "Oh my god why are you so old" with some youngster shitslang added on, and I'll play some "Classical gangster rap" and drive off on my hovercart yelling "yolo noob"

It's okay, though - in case our future turns out to be some sort of Orwellian dystopia, we'll be the ones with the neat memories of pornhub and redtube and lived in the golden age of Internet porn.
Kiss my wrinkled old ass, Future great grandson!
Taken too soon.
I assumed it was this person and was really confused til I saw the picture
