Agreed. You can't have a real Aliens game without Ripley or Weaver

Small thing, but Alien and Aliens might as well just be two completely different brands.

Stopped reading right there.

You'll be missing out on an awesome game.
You'll be missing out on an awesome game.
It's a bad practice nevertheless.
I was extremely skeptical about Isolation (mainly thanks to the guys behind Colonial Marines) but the more I hear about it the more faith I have. They've got the art style and assets down to near perfection, and it's not an FPS alien murder sim. They also managed to fucking convince Weaver, which is more than enough to convince me.
I fucking adore the Alien franchise with all my heart (I the first two movies at least once a year) so it's nice to see something that I think will meet the standards that fans like me have.
You'll be missing out on an awesome game.
With the way the previous Aliens game went I think I'll cope.
Awesome.
I remember reading how Michael Biehn felt as if the Colonial Marines devs didn't give a shit about the game when he came in to do voice acting. So I'd say it's a good sign if Sigourney is behind this.
With the way the previous Aliens game went I think I'll cope.
Except the guys who botched the last game aren't working on this one. Hell, IIRC SEGA has completely barred Gearbox from ever touching another Alien game again.
It's a bad practice nevertheless.
A practice that's going to keep on going, you notice how a lot of companies are starting to do it now, it's sad really.
yeah the guys who botched rome 2 are making this one
also keep in mind, even if it might be good, its not good yet until we play it
They have a different team working on this than the guys doing the Total War series.
The game will be just fine
They seem to be pretty dedicated to showing that its not a bunch of bullshots. Unlike AC:M, they have a shit ton of press exposure and demo's that press can get their hands on.
I also would like to remind people that the Aliens/Alien franchise had some of the greatest games ever made at one point which was ruined by the newer AvP game and ACM
It's a bad practice nevertheless.
I'm very okay with DLC when it's released as an independent Piece of additional, reasonably sized content to a game that is already of adequate length and complete at the time of the release. They used to call these things Add-ons and Expansion Packs and I liked them back then.
I'm not okay when developers take pieces out of the finished game and sell them as additional content or if they create 'premium' content in the form of in-game items that could have easily been sold with the game in the first place.
And then there is a special place in hell for BF3
With the way the previous Aliens game went I think I'll cope.
Yep.
You're in a position to know better than an actor that is famous for portraying the most important role in the Alien franchise when that same actress has turned down similar offers for literally every other game in the franchises history.
yeah, your doubt is well placed.

Good to know that you already played the game then.
Good to know that you already played the game then.
It's a general statement in no connection to the game at hand. Or else I would have, you know, mentioned that I specifically talked about Isolation
I really hope this game is really good.
I've never been that big of a fan of the Alien franchise, but this game is looking really really good in all aspects.

strong female protagonist that isn't a bluntly sexist and bland cardboard cutout + religious devotion to ridley scott's vision of the future + emergent gameplay design with enemies
why wouldn't someone be excited for this game

Because they're a cynical shit who constantly blares "BUT IT'S MODERN SO IT'S BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD" to people who don't care
AKA 90% of Reddit and a good portion of this forum as well
i am 100% certain that if colonial marines just never existed that everybody would be gobbling its balls. i don't get the point in being "afraid" or whatever that it will be bad because of colonial marines. its a completely different studio and we've seen quite a bit about this to suggest it will probably own hard. the only worry i have for it is from general "it hasn't released yet" anxiety but i'm still pretty pumped for it.

Someone forgot Weaver played Ripley in Aliens : Resurrection.
Someone forgot Weaver played Ripley in Aliens : Resurrection.
On the other hand, she turned down the AvP films because they sounded abysmal.
Resurrection should of been a good film, it had a lot of good people attached to it but for some reason it just turned abysmal which is probably why she took part in it :v:
Someone forgot Weaver played Ripley in Aliens : Resurrection.
No I'll never forget that movie
That film might have been less than awesome, but it wasn't abominable
How Joss Whedon went wrong i'll never know
Except the guys who botched the last game aren't working on this one. Hell, IIRC SEGA has completely barred Gearbox from ever touching another Alien game again.
SEGA has nothing to do with the Aliens license anymore after this game, they can't "bar" anyone from anything. They were contracted for three titles + attendant dlc/expansions, Isolation is the final one, and the reason it's in house is because of their complete mismanagement of the franchise to boot.
You also seem rather unaware the guy who put his ass on the line to purchase the rights in the first place was fired by SoE's BoD for doing it, because they never wanted the license to begin with, they were convinced they'd make more than enough money shoveling out throw-away Marvel movie tie ins (remember thor hulk and iron man? remember how awesome those games were?, Yeah that's how much SEGA cares.)
SEGA isn't anyone's bro. They are a publisher looking for a return, and they didn't let Rebellion even finish 2010 properly and the reason GBX kept the reins as long they did as because they started self funding the final milestones, and also their completely bullshit "beta" trailer.

I wish AvP 2010 or A:CM were halfway between this and AvP2. The aliens should've been intelligent, cunning and really challenging to defeat, though you're not as defenseless as in Isolation, rather than having hordes constantly spammed at you, but no, that's too much work
With the way the previous Aliens game went I think I'll cope.
Just an FYI, this isn't being worked on by the Rome 2 guys. They had a second team (the Alien Isolation team) work on this game for several years while the rest of the company worked on Total War. So I have hope
Agreed. You can't have a real Aliens game without Ripley or Weaver
Well the best Aliens style game I've ever played is Alien Swarm 2010 and it wasn't licensed in Aliens or anything. But Lizzrd is right, Alien is different, we need suspense and tension rather than gun gun shoot shoot.
