No internet access on desktop, stuck at "Identifying..." the network

So I recently got one of those Windows 7 security viruses, fixed it up and got rid of it, and installed an exefix because my programs weren't working. Everything was going fine until I started up my computer this morning to find that it couldn't get internet access. It connected, but the internet icon on my dashboard has the little yellow "!" symbol, and when I look at my networks it says that it has no internet access and is "Identifying" my network. Even when I try to plug it in with an ethernet cable I still get no internet. But it's only on my desktop computer, my laptop is still working fine.
I've got Windows 7 Ultimate, 32 bit and a D-Link WDA 1320 wireless adapter, and the drivers seem to be up to date.
Any help would really be appreciated.
I get this. Always seems to be fixed by either turning the network adapter on and off, or the router on and off.

Tried turning the router on and off, haven't tried it with the network adapter yet.
Hey sorry to intrude but how exactly did you get rid of the virus? my mom just got the vista version and I'm wondering how to get it off.

Create another profile on that computer via the control panel, download Malwarebytes on that profile and do a scan. Then delete everything that it finds.
