My friend, who is technologicaly retarded took my phone, went on the Market and proceeded to download anything that looked like Angry Birds along with anything he thought looked cool. I was pissed. I had to explain to him about shit like this.
The Android market needs better checks before an app becomes available to the public. Then again people should check what the app has access to before installing, but this may not be the case with this virus.
I can kind of understand why people get these. There are hundreds of copies of everything in the market.
This officially makes Android the best operating system, see hackers target windows because they know high priority people use it, and also that it allows them to reach a worldwide audience, if Android is seen as worth the effort to write viruses for, then one could come to the conclusion that it is the best of the current operating systems ?
People make viruses for the people who don't know the difference between Droid and Android. The people running custom ROMs and whatnot can usually see a threat when they see one. = People make viruses for the people who don't know the difference between an ISP and a router. The people building their own computers and scripting their own programs don't fall for shit on Windows either.

at least we can block most of the malware on pc with draconian firewalls. [editline]3rd March 2011[/editline] from sending data into the web

He's trying to say andriod has become a more important target. Which is a retarded logic, viruses are made for important UNSAFE targets.
More like apple have much stricter checks than Android.
Or the people who write malware don't have the cash for an Apple product.
Or the people who write malware don't have the cash for an Apple product.
because apple is totally cool... not
Or the people who write malware don't have the cash for an Apple product.
no
More like apple have much stricter checks than Android.
In some cases too strict, but being nanny-like about apps DOES have one advantage it seems.
Oh noes!
