I CHANGED THE BUDGET TO 800$ I maybe making a new computer for my birthday. I need some help on hardware since I don't know what is good and whats not so I could use some advice for this. I'm buying these things at Lowyat a famous place to shop for anything tech related in Malaysia. I also want to play BF3 and other modern games with High or Max Settings with 50+ FPS or above. Also I don't want it to be almost the same as the budget If I can get it down and still have good graphics and performance please reccomend me to something better.I'm not sure what brands is in my country so I can't be that specific on what I buy If theres any parts I'm missing please tell me. Specs(some of these might be outdated): Questions: What does Ghz Socket mean?Do I have to buy a certain motherboard or power supply to use it? How do I know what motherboards support these hardware? Is using a AMD processor with a Nvidia Graphics card a bad idea? Someone said if you want to buy a GeForce GTX 560 ask specifically for a non Ti.Why is that? Why are there different brand names/names on the GeForce GTX 560(Asus,Gigabyte)? What is overclocking? How much better it is than a not overclocked CPU. What is a dual channel or tri--channel?Is it only RAM related? How do I get the advantages of those? Sound cards improve my sound quality. How does it improve it? Cooling Fan Vs Water Cooling.Which one should I get for my first build? Oh yeah I forgot to mention that I'm changing Monitors and Sound systems so please tell me what resolution monitor should I get(Not limited to budget)
GHz socket? It is probably a typo. You need to look for AM3 motherboard, because you chose a socket AM3 CPU. AMD CPU and nVidia GPU can work together. But you might not be able to use SLI on AMD Motherboards. GTX560TI costs more and works better. No idea why would somebody tell that is better. There is no difference between brands, except sometimes different coolers or stock overclocking and such. Some just have bonuses like lifetime warranties and such. Overclocking is making your CPU/GPU perform faster than it was. Speed boost depends on the CPU and how much did you OC it. Triple channel is only on socket LGA1366 (or smth like that). It is only on high-end last gen Intel CPU-s. It is only RAM related and you get advantages of those when both ram sticks are in same colored slot in the MoBo RAM slots. No they don't unless you have high-end headphones or a good sound system.
could you explain the AM? -eating gonna ask a question related to power supply later- [editline]17th June 2011[/editline] In Power Supply I want to know what is the price of a good one, what (Example:20+4pin) mean and how much power it has to supply to my computer.

The PSU's price depends on how powerful you need it to be. The amount of power you need depends on your components. In your case, I'd go with something around a 600w psu, unless you plan on grabbing another 560 later. The 20+4 pin is the connector that goes to the motherboard. When you're picking the PSU, go with a reputable brand, it's something you will not want to skimp on. Personally, I like Corsair's PSUs.
Should I get a case fan and a processor fan? [editline]17th June 2011[/editline] Updated OP is this good? should I get something with more power than 600w?
I've never heard of that brand of PSU, again, I'd stick with something like this. If your case has room for extra fans, you can pick up a few extra, but I generally wait until after my build to see if I need them.
COMBO DEAL: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.644148 The HDD is not the best, but you get a motherboard that is able of doing CF, and that's worth something, even though it's x16/x4 (meaning you will get less performance from CF (around 10% loss, from what I've seen)). I don't think you're planning on overclocking (considering the information in the OP), but if you are I'll revise this to make it overclockable. GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150527&cm_re=6950-_-14-150-527-_-Product Take the mail in rebate, even though it's nuisance doing it. PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207014&cm_re=XFX_PSU-_-17-207-014-_-Product This will do crossfire 6950 and with the main in rebate it's even cheaper. Get someone else to point a case in your direction, there's a good deal of money left to play around with, you should consider either a P67 with a K edition i5 or a 6970. [editline]5th July 2011[/editline] I need to start posting in here more often again.
HAF 932 is good for a mid-range case, or a 912 is decent too. What about processor cooler? [editline]5th July 2011[/editline] nvm lol can't read
HAF 932 is good for a mid-range case, or a 912 is decent too. What about processor cooler?
The stock cooler is good enough if he doesn't plan on overclocking. Otherwise, a 212+ will do him good.
I'm not planning on overclocking any time soon so I want to know the advantages of having ATI GPU or Nvidia GPU for my build.(Planning to add another GPU later this year so I want to know how much power I need)
Nvidia are currently better for gaming, for average resolution single-screen. If you're going into very high resolution (above 1920x1200) then you'll want an ATI, aswell as if you're multi-screen gaming or doing repetitive stuff (Bitcoin mining, password cracking, folding@home)

The 6950 is better than the GTX 560 Ti in most cases anyway, and costs almost the same.
so I should still get the 650W PSU?
I'd go for a 750 or 800 watt power supply as the card says minimum should be 650.
XFX 850w is only £85, get that.
The 650W will do CF just fine. [editline]7th July 2011[/editline] Just noticed you're in Malaysia, where are you buying from?
LowYat(I wrote this in the OP) [editline]8th July 2011[/editline] Do most motherboards support the Crossfire Bridge thing?
As far as I know, as long as you've got two PCI-E slots, crossfire will work (you'll need a CF bridge, too, but that comes with the card). SLI needs an extra chip.
The PCI-E slots are on the motherboard right?I'm tired so I'm kinda confused right now
Yup, I'll get you a build tommorow, or this night.
Tomorrow sounds good since I'm going to go sleep ughhhh god I'm tired
bump
Sorry, forgot about it. [editline]14th July 2011[/editline] Can you give a link to the shop itself? Can't make a build without knowing prices.
Sorry, forgot about it. [editline]14th July 2011[/editline] Can you give a link to the shop itself? Can't make a build without knowing prices.
its not really a shop more of a shopping complex for tech
Are there any listed prices?
Are there any listed prices?
not sure. The last time I was there it was 5 years ago
Then I can't really build anything for you, prices might be much different than I guess.
Don't get that CPU, it doesn't have the 6MB of L3 cache. That's a big deal for performance. Try getting a standard black edition CPU that has a 125W power requirement.
Shit forgot to mention that now.
