C: drive is biting it, suggestions on replacement?

So I came home from work to the dreaded little Windows pop-up that says "AHEY-HEY! Your C: drive is dying.", so I'm looking to replace it. I've decided to go ahead and replace it with an SSD for my OS with an additional 1-2TB drive for bulk storage. Problem is I hear in the past 5 years, Seagate and WesternDigital, the two big HDD manufacturers, have suffered in quality, so I'm not sure which to go for anymore (use to go all Seagate). So:
Of the two, which is less shit? And,
Who makes good SSDs these days? Mushkin or Kingston any good?
samsung evo is a pretty well liked SSD without being too costly.
evo 830 or 840
don't bother with anything else
Yeah, almost ordered a 180GB Intel SSD before realizing that a 250GB Samsung EVO was only $5 more. They refused to cancel the order the first time, but thankfully the second time ti cancelled (I hope). So I ended up getting:

Seagate is best price/performance at the moment
Reliability is luck of the draw with all desktop grade disks these days. If you want a cheap almost enterprise-grade disk that's also rated for 24/7 use, look into the SV35 series
how about adata ssd's? are they reliable?

Judging from reviews here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=20-211-582&SortField=0&SummaryType=0&Pagesize=10&PurchaseMark=&SelectedRating=1&VideoOnlyMark=False&VendorMark=&IsFeedbackTab=true&Keywords=%28keywords%29 it seems like a pretty unreliable brand.
Best ones I have seen so far are Samsung, Crucial and Intel. When I was originally looking I heard OCz had issues, My corsair drive has lasted me 1 1/2 years so far, and I just recently got a Samsung one also.
Their SP and SX series are actually really good. S series looks like their reject/budget brand.
I use a Corsair Force GT, no problems whatsoever. But when in doubt, 840 Pro/Evo.

A friend of mine tried an OCZ drive, he had enough problems with it that it convinced me not to get one. In the end it turned out it was VERY picky about what cable/port he used.
I'm just hoping the Barracuda isn't a dud, probably going to plug it in and see what it does for a week or so before relying on it/switching over to the SSD.
