• Can a fracture / broken bone heal itself?

So about a week ago I was fucking around at school at the end of the day and I was (attempting) to slide down the stair rail from the second story, well turns out there was too much moisture and way too much friction to move anywhere on the pole that day. Anyways, of course in front of my friends I go to slide down the rail and move about half a foot, and fall backward (due to backpack weight). I scuffed up my arm which was all purple and shit, which healed in like 3 days and just bruised, but then I also hit my leg (which hurt like a mofo) on the corner of the stair, it's like right above my ankle. Anyways, that was a week + ago. So my leg hurts all weekend and it's massively swollen... Well it's still swollen and it won't bruise it's just a huge red bump and it's started to flare up every hour or so, whereas the first few days after it happened it hurt like a bitch to walk on. Now it seems that a bruise has formed along just above the bottom of my foot around the sides, which were not even part of the initial fall. Anyways, I was wondering if this has ever happened to anyone else or if there's a possibility of it being broken or fractured. When I rub my finger lightly over it I don't feel any response or feeling sensation, but when I press on it it hurts like hell. I don't want to go see a doctor unless there's like a 80% chance that it's broken or needs special care. Anyone have any input? [editline]11:14PM[/editline] tl;dr - I made myself look stupid, hurt my leg over a week ago, huge swollen bump and bruise on foot, no nerve response on swollen part, flares up in a tingling pain every hour or so.
Well who else would heal it?
yes, but it will most like be weaker and possibly somewhat deformed after healing naturally. and you can possibly lose the feeling where fracture/break is in bone since nerves could be severed. and there is always the chance of infection.
[QUOTE=phobia-_-;20930493]Well who else would heal it?[/QUOTE] I'm saying do you think I should give it some more time to heal naturally.
it will take much longer to heal.
Well, it may be a fracture, but a ''little one'' (they're my be a little crack in it) Go to a doctor soon
Don't use it for a few more days and ice it (maybe add heat), if your symptoms don't change, I would see a doctor.

I'm questionable as to whether I tore a tissue or ligament or fractured it, I mean I've been walking on it for over a week now as it happened last Friday. It doesn't hurt as bad as it did at first, but still.
well it could be a "bone bruise" but I would get in checked no matter what. I played football (American) and got an injury that made it seem like fractured/broken 4 fingers on my right hand, turned out to be a bone bruise. required lots of ice and a weird cast thingy.
Shit going to see a doctor is gonna be $ and I'm gonna have to give him a breakdown of my scenario.

[editline]08:20PM[/editline] universal health care passed in the US if you live there (I do) but it probably won't take affect anytime soon.

Alright, I guess if it isn't better by this friday then I'll ask my mom to schedule a doctor's appointment.
good.
Doctor
and you quote made me notice my spelling/grammar errors :frown: [editline]08:22PM[/editline] broke my auto-merge
You do need to go to a doctor, but a bone always heal natually. I broke my leg, and though it hurt like hell, all the doctor did was put me under, adjust the bone until it fit, put some pins in it and a cast on it, a few months later, done and healed. I couldn't walk well or bend my leg all the way back at first, but TRUST ME. If you want to walk earlier, wear supportive sneakers when you try to walk again, Works like a charm. I got that from a dream, I couldn't walk, but when I put my sneakers on, I could walk fine. I tested it in real life and it worked. Odd eh? tl;dr Go see a doctor, but all broken bones heal naturally, you need to have it aligned before it starts healing though.
