Probably gonna sound idiotic, but what are the possible negatives of port forwarding?

I've been thinking about forwarding some ports, but when I asked my dad If I could he told me to find out if forwarding ports could possibly stop my wireless connection. I've messed up the internet in my house quite a few times before so its understandable for him to be wary, and its also made me somewhat cautious. So is there any chance of my internet going kapoot from port forwarding
None really.
"hi dad im 12 years old so im gonna ask for ur permisshun to forward portz!!!!!!!"

no it won't break your wireless
Opening ports always carries risk with it, especially if you open a port to a service that's insecure and can be compromised. Scum are always running port scanners and it doesn't take them long to figure out when one has been opened.
Only open ports when you need them, don't open huge ranges of ports and disable port forwarding when you aren't using them anymore.
