• How often do you change your cpu heatsink?

I don't change it at all.
Till I buy a new CPU?
When the old one breaks or something.
Until I get a new CPU.
When it needs changing, AKA when I buy a new CPU that goes to a socket which my aftermarket cooler won't fit on. This is a stupid thread, nobody changes their cpu heatsink because they feel like it, it's always necessity.
Uh, since when do people change heatsinks on a regular basis? Its not like their efficiency changes with time or use. I don't know why you would even want to. It would seem pretty annoying to remove and reapply the thermal paste.
When I build a computer then decide the stock cooler isn't enough.
When it breaks/I build a new computer. My current cooler is probably going to outlive me.
Every day. I have a drawer just full of them, ready to go. It's the first thing I do when I get up in the morning.
Changed it once because stock intel fan sucks.
Never. Every computer I have worked just fine with its stock cooler.
Only time I ever changed is when I got a CM Hyper 212 to replace the stock junk. Since then I have only removed it once to clean it and apply new thermal compound.
Never. I just buy new mounting brackets.
With every oil change.
Till my H50 dies.
I hope never, I installed a 100eur worth waterblock on it thats performing outstanding. If you ever concider watercooling, www.innovatek.de is the way to go.
Till I buy a new CPU?
I'm pretty sure this is what everyone would do, unless their old one is the stock heatsink, or is very inefficient.
I changed my heatsink today because i use a stock cooler from intel and i know the guy i bought my pc from used stock heatsink, I had heatsink laying around which was pretty old but yet fresh is there an expire date for heatsinks ? Also after i applied the heatsink i waited a bit and started my pc and it told me my cpu was on 79 degrees i looked first in Speccy and then i looked with other stuff if the temps were right i don't know if its a bug or something or do you have to wait longer when you apply new heatsink? btw: its heatsink from Arctic cooling.
When it breaks. Or when I get a better one with a new processor. Although I change the thermal paste every six months or so, just to keep it fresh.
www.innovatek.de
Eww If I'll ever buy watercooling parts, it'll be from Swiftek or EK Waterblocks
I don't like liquid cooling any good fan cooling systems out there? Also http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1027191-Heatsink-issues?p=26095314#post26095314
By change do you mean clean? Its been 3 years i need to take it off and clean it I also need to find my paste to reapply
I have never really changed it because I already have a decent after market cooler. I generally clean it every 6 months along with the rest of my computer because I'm a dumbass and removed the dust filters so shit gets really messy inside, :smug:
I feel i need something with a little more opfh than a stock Intel cooler, so possibly soon.
heatsink no, but i did just take the fan off my nas server and screwed a case fan on and it stays at around 39c which is a bit hotter than it was but I can hear myself think now.
Once a week usually.
Eww If I'll ever buy watercooling parts, it'll be from Swiftek or EK Waterblocks
Yes those are very good as well, I still prefer innovatek, their parts perform really well and I never had any problems with them. Especially the eheim water pumps. I agree it's not as stylish as other brands but that's german engineering :v:
Ever since I bought one of those giant silver monstrosities some third-party people offer for cpu cooling, never.
With every oil change.
Don't forget to rotate your RAM too Makes the DIMMs wear evenly
