• Question about the term "National"

I'm doing a Commerce assignment.. I have to make a travel plan for a 2 week stay in the Netherlands. I'm up to a part about getting a Visa, found this on a Dutch Govt. website: "Nationals who DO NOT need a visa for a stay of up to 90 days ... Australia" My question: is a National just someone from the country specified? eg. I live in Australia, so am I considered an Australian National? Thanks.
It's pretty much an alternative way of saying permanent resident, or in some but not all cases citizen. Short answer, yes. I actually came from the Netherlands and now live in Australia.
Thanks.
