My computer is about 4 or so years. I am now feeling it is near time to retire it. Over the years it has slowed and recently I suspect it is being ate up by viruses ( my uncle got me into using limewire :smithicide: ). I am looking to buy a new desk top or laptop. I would like it to be able to run a game like tropico 3 smoothly. And I also am low on cash so it will have to be kinda cheap. maybe under 600 usd :unsmith: ? I would really appreciate any help on this.
you can build a good desktop for 600
I'll build you one. PM me.
I'll build you one. PM me.
No, you post in this thread so that everyone can see it. The point in this forum is so that everyone can see what you're recommending and give feedback on what needs to be changed.
Your diction makes me picture you taking your computer out to the field to shoot it.
Getting a new PC is always a good option, but you should still use the old one for simple things, possibly a server or something similar.
I don't wanna sound greedy but I would love to take the old man off your hands, all I have is a laptop that can hardly run TF2 at 20 fps
Pc's don't just die. Just reinstall windows and it will be just like it was when you bought it.
It's a 4 year old computer. It's past its time.
yep. My faithful 4 year old laptop passed away last year... 1gb ram... 2.13ghz Pentium 4... 128mb Mobility Radeon x600... :crying: She was faithful to me... R.I.P
It's a 4 year old computer. It's past its time.
I understand, then it's fine.
How did it pass? My server is 10 years old. My family computer is 10 years old. My moms laptop is ten years old. Never done an upgrade or a reinstall. My whole family just knows how to use common sense 2010 and I know my way around windows. I'll usually do a little cleanup every 1-12 months.
-Servers don't need to be upgraded if it is used for simple hosting purposes where IO is not critical -Family computers are only used for the most essentials of the essential tasks, therefore will last for a long time. -Same applies for your mom's laptop. For gamers, a 4 year old computer is a piece of obsolete hardware.
It's a 4 year old computer. It's past its time.
No it's not. I still have my mom's computer from 199-7\8. I still use it to surf the web while I play games.
My computer is 4 years old. It's taken me through many fond memories. I know that I'll soon have to finally put it away. :sigh:
Maybe people should stop making more graphically demanding games.
Another quality post by Maccabee. Yeah lets just stop making advances in game technology and go back to pong.
Another quality post by Maccabee. Yeah lets just stop making advances in game technology and go back to pong.
I actually see a point in his post. Don't you think developers could focus a bit more in efficiency and fun instead of just forcing everyone to buy new hardware every six months? @thread - Have you tried formatting the PC? Maybe you can make it run for some more time...
Another quality post by Maccabee. Yeah lets just stop making advances in game technology and go back to pong.
it was a joke
you can build a good desktop for 600
I'm in australia, ~$800 usually gets you a pretty decent desktop. I spent $1252 :v:
my computer is 5 years old. 2Ghz core 2 duo, 8600gt, 2gb of ram. Asus P5k. It's still going strong.

Look at Crysis, some may disagree, but it was in fact a very fun and enjoyable game and it is the best looking game out there.
Can someone tell me a way to just wipe the slate clean on my computer? I realized that getting the amount of money necessary for a good laptop which I would prefer is going to take time and would like to extend my computers life a little bit more. [editline]10:18PM[/editline] And I am about computer illiterate so I would appreciate details.
