A gay couple from Virginia are suing Houston-based United/Continental Airlines after baggage handlers allegedly removed a sex toy from one of their checked bags, leaving on show before it went back on the carousel.
The couple claims the sex toy had been covered in a “foul-smelling lubricant” and taped to the top of the bag.
As reported by John Wright in the Dallas Voice, Michael Hamar at The Bilerico Project, an LGBT advocate group, said that the couple were on their way home to Norfolk, Virginia after holidaying in Costa Rica.
When they arrived in Norfolk, their bag came down the carousel, partially open, with the dildo showing and wrapped in clear plastic tape bearing the Continental logo.
The bag was left open though the zip was working.
The couple filed their lawsuit last week in Harris County district court, suing the airline for emotional distress, invasion of privacy and negligence.
The lawsuit states: “Because of the fact that the sex toy was contained in the bag of a male, and because the employee(s) responsible knew that the bag belonged to a male due to the name tag attached to the bag and the male clothing contained in the bag, there is a high likelihood that these egregious actions were directed towards [the] Plaintiffs because they are homosexual and because they are males.”
Completely unbelievable. Hope they win the lawsuit
hahah something tells me someone's going to lose a job
my ass welped
political correctness gone mad, i tell you
It was probably an accident and unintentional. Saw this story on another site, and someone who works for an airline company explained how this could have happened.

Wow, was the TSA agent really that lonely?
The bag was left open though the zip was working
that zip isn't working at all
urgh, leave private things private. I'm not grossed out about the dildo, but I'm angered that someone employee would show off that find like a trophy and embarrass the hell out of its owners.

And lube it up
The part that bothers me is that they searched through their belongings, isn't there some law against that?
That is a decently sized dildo.
I was so close to being there for this. I was at Norfolk airport last week (if this happened recently).

Nope, if they do in the U.S at least they'll leave a polite little note card telling you that they did this and that. I've had it happen a bunch of times.

Not without reason, but what's from stopping airlines from just thinking up any random reason on spot

Welcome to the brave new world of the TSA. :v:

I'm no lawyer, but their entire case is dependent on the assumption that there was an employee responsible, when there is no actual evidence that there was. How do they expect to win? The tape is there because they tape up broken baggage, not because someone wanted to tape the dildo up for everyone to see. The handlers probably don't even pay attention to whats in the bag. They got thousands of them to go through and it's certainly not the first dildo they've seen. Tape it up, move on to the next.
Then there's always these:
In the course of normal handling, your baggage may show evidence of use. United is never liable for destruction, loss or damage that results from an inherent defect, quality or vice of the baggage.
As unfortunate as this may be, I don't think they can win this case. Simply because you cannot prove that this is the result of an employee, and not the bag itself. There's simply too many things that go on from point A to point B to say that this is the result of an employee.
Welcome to the brave new world of the TSA. :v:
The tape was United Airlines tape, not Customs or TSA tape. The bag was not opened by a security officer. It was either damaged in baggage or intentionally opened by a United Airlines baggage handler.

I've had a bag get checked brand new, and then come down the chute at my destination blown open around the seams like something exploded inside. Baggage claim is pretty violent.
-snip- For some reason I made a TSA joke when they weren't even mentioned.

wait, your dildo nearly got strapped on top of your bag? :quagmire:
the airport employees have a bottle of lube laying around?

Y'see, if you're going to make a sarcastic comment, make sure people actually believe the thing you're ridiculing.
Tbh if I'm a TSA agent and I see a giant dildo XRAY in a bag Im gonna check that shit out

whoops accidentally fucked myself with your dildo
these things happen

Initially I meant without good reason. Did they suspect the dick shaped bulge in the luggage was a gun or something? It makes me feel uncomfortable knowing that the people who handle the luggage can just go through peoples bags and touch shit just because they can.
Ghey
Did they suspect the dick shaped bulge in the luggage was a gun or something?
oh man
if I ever need to smuggle a gun somewhere I'm going to hide the parts in massive rubber dildos
the perfect plan

god read tfa
it isn't TSA tape, its United tape. The bag exploded on luggage transit, it was taped up, and the "lube" is most likely from the luggage belt/the roll-y conveyor belt things

Yes because the only thing lubricant is used for is sex!
Last time I checked lubricant specifically marketed for sex isn't "foul smelling." It was probably the industrial lubricant used on heavy machinery to decrease wear and tear and friction of moving parts. And guess what the baggage areas of airports are filled with? Lots of heavy machinery with a lot of moving parts! And guess what employees who work around heavy machinery get all over them? Industrial lubricant!

...Machinery?
Are you seriously saying someone would waste their time with a bag that needs to go off as quickly as possible to lubricate it?
Honestly, you guys are not even trying to connect two and two here.

so what you are saying is that an "industrial machine" opened up a bag, took what i assume is a concealed dildo at the bottom of the bag, pored lubricant all over the dildo, then took the dildo and didn't even bother putting it back inside the bag, but they put it on top of the bag in plain sight.
this is what happened, in your opinion?

i'm pretty sure a gay dude who uses a dildo knows what "foul-smelling lube" means. a synonym would be santorum.

The bag burst open, you can tell from the zip so it's entirely likely it broke open on the conveyor.
