I've read some stuff on this, and heard it on TV, just nothing lately. Has this been put on the back burner? I heard Cuba was supposed to be re-opened to US citizens. I assume with Obama, this will never happen. Or am I wrong?
As long as Castro lives, I don't think so.
It happened in 1959:

Uh, that's not liberation... That was when the whole bullshit going on now started.

"Bullshit"?... *Sigh*... I am disappointed.
Cuba's doing pretty well compared to America
Everyone has very good free healthcare, except they've got a half-decent dictator

So you like the opressive pre-Castro government?
Even though I'm no communist/socialist, I see the advantages (helped that I had a teacher who was born in Yugoslavia) with a communistic government for poor people.
Castro is a good leader, yet america is butthurt about cuba so its their fault.
Cold War is over. I don't even know why we still have that embargo.

This.
Ok, let me elaborate here... My issue is this:
We trade with China, allies (somewhat) with China, and they're communist. Cuba is a little tiny, poor, Caribbean nation, and we screw them over by fining any country that trades with them, and forbidding any trade from the USA with them. Thus leaving them poor, and in the 1950's. You ever hear that they make on average $20 bucks a month?
This one is awesome.

But anyway.. Fidel Castro resigned over a year ago (he's not dead yet)and his brother Raúl is currently the president.
I'm no expert, but Cuba's standards have really risen the last years. I don't think it will be too long before it's completely liberated.
Raúl himself has already removed many of the top officials and loyalists to Fidel. So far so good, but I wouldn't be surprised if he were just trying to become the new dictator of Cuba.
It is liberated.

No, it's not. Do you not know what's going on down there?
