Fucking yes.
Premium? Exclusive weapons? Oh boy.
Brand new Commander Mode. lol
Oh boy Commander Mode I can't wait for the servers that ban you if you dare to even move if you get into it!!!!
Commander mode is nice and all but it would be good if they also included the better gameplay of Battlefield 2/2142.
I thought BF4 was reserved for the next generation?
Commander mode is nice and all but it would be good if they also included the better gameplay of Battlefield 2/2142.
What better gameplay? The horribly broken hit detection and weak as fuck and inaccurate weapons?
What better gameplay? The horribly broken hit detection and weak as fuck and inaccurate weapons?
The emphasis on teamplay, the lack of actual combat (hiding behind a wall with explosions everywhere with your buddies desperately trying to keep people alive, fun fun fun!), not getting killed as soon as you spawn/someone sees you. Also it had better hit detection than in Battlefield 3. I can play on a 300 ping server in Battlefield 2 and do just fine, but try to play a 100 ping server in Battlefield 3 and I get nothing but horrible game breaking lag. One minute i'm in a jet, next i'm in a mountain. Also, mod support, single player as multiplayer with bots instead of some godawful campaign, more maps, map variants, more vehicles, jets that feel different from one another, two seater/six seater jets, six squad players, squad commands, voip, etc. Also maps that actually feel like Battlefield maps instead of Call of Duty maps, and not saving those maps that feel like Battlefield for the DLC. Also teamkilling would be nice too, really made Battlefield 2 a lot better knowing that you have to be careful who you shoot at. A lot less blind fire like there is in Battlefield 3 (Battlefield 3 actually REWARDS blind fire)
Also, mod support,
Project Reality and Forgotten Hope man those two mods.
Project Reality and Forgotten Hope man those two mods.
Also AIX has amazing maps and the bots are the closest i've seen to human players in a long time.
I thought BF4 was reserved for the next generation?
It's next gen, but they're watering it down for "current" gen.
Also destruction that was on the same level or better than Bad Company 2 please. Also if they rehash the Battlefield 2 maps in a DLC again it would be nice if they either reduced the draw distance to what it originally was or made the maps a lot bigger, get sniped from the other side of the map is not fun.
What better gameplay? The horribly broken hit detection and weak as fuck and inaccurate weapons?
Don't forget the grenade spam and "First person to flop on the ground wins" gun fights. I don't think I've played any other game where the preferred method of close-to-mid ranged combat was to jump up and down and throw all of your grenades at the target, as opposed to using your gun.
BF2 damage model was about one less bullet to kill than BF3.
Yeah, but the guns were inaccurate as fuck so it balances out I guess.
It's next gen, but they're watering it down for "current" gen.
I can tell that they are watering it down with the constant showcasing of rain in its ad campaign (poster for instance)
Every other point he makes is still extremely valid... who gives a fuck about damage models. BF2 was a far superior game, but more importantly... it was unique from the rest of the shooters at the time.
Yeah, but the guns were inaccurate as fuck so it balances out I guess.
So you admit the guns were broken, but that somehow made it better?
Every other point he makes is still extremely valid... who gives a fuck about damage models. BF2 was a far superior game, but more importantly... it was unique from the rest of the shooters at the time.
I thought it was really boring.
Every other point he makes is still extremely valid... who gives a fuck about damage models. BF2 was a far superior game, but more importantly... it was unique from the rest of the shooters at the time.
It still is incredibly unique. I've never played a game like Battlefield 2/2142. It has the perfect mix of realism and arcadey fun. You have to work as a team and have a battle plan and stuff, but it isn't super serious like ArmA. It's still incredibly fun to this day and I honestly have never played a game like it yet. It's pretty sad actually, 2 and 2142 had that amazing balance that had both casuals and hardcores working together and having fun. [editline]25th April 2013[/editline]
So you admit the guns were broken, but that somehow made it better?
It does make it better. In Battlefield 3 the guns are crazy precise and you die instantly, but in Battlefield 2 you had to be careful with your shots. You had to shoot in bursts and make sure that you hit them or else you would get spotted. You would usually miss if you fired, so you were encouraged to try and fight as little as possible.
Are you sure your brain isn't manipulating your memories? I think BC2 was the best game.
That being said, i'm not saying Battlefield 2 is perfect. It does have many flaws, some that make it better, I'm just saying that it's disappointing that Battlefield 3 did not capture the magic that Battlefield 2 and 2142 had, and Battlefield 4 probably won't either. [editline]25th April 2013[/editline]
Are you sure your brain isn't manipulating your memories? I think BC2 was the best game.
Wtf are you talking about. If you check my STEAM account I only got BF2 like 2 weeks ago. Also, opinions. I find it incredibly immature that I try to have an intelligent conversation with someone over the internet and some guy comes in and tells me that my opinion is stupid because apparently I have nostalgia goggles and that i'm wrong for thinking a game is the best game in the series. Why should it even matter to you what I think? Why do you have to be incredibly immature like that and just start telling me my opinion is invalid because of no reason and that i'm stupid? Why do you have to immediately tell me that i'm stupid for thinking that instead of just, you know, joining in the conversation? If you have to start insulting someone's reasoning behind their opinions then something is wrong.
lol, you're talking like it was from the past, "ah, good old times, I miss them". Whats so unique with BF2? I mostly just played with bots in that game. But I cannot say one single thing that was unique with it. Now a days it just feels like a generic F2P game.
Worst thing about BF2 was grenade spam. Why use the inaccurate as fuck weapons when everyone can just throw a shit ton of super powerful grenades.
Nah, all you really had to do was place the crosshairs on someone, start firing and crouch right after the first shot. Or you know, just live next to the server. That usually worked.
It does make it better
What the hell? The gunplay in BF2 was the single worst thing about it since having a lottery over whether you'll actually hit someone or not is not fun.
Worst thing about BF2 was grenade spam. Why use the inaccurate as fuck weapons when everyone can just throw a shit ton of super powerful grenades.
I know I sound like the kind of guy who defends every bit of a game on a forum but really I never really encountered this in Battlefield 2 or 2142. I know I myself have thrown quite a few grenades, but I rarely see anyone doing it. I dunno, kind of weird. I just see people taking jets and bombing the fuck out of everything. I said that was the good thing about it because you died so easily and it discouraged you from blind firing. Although i'm just comparing it to Battlefield 3 where you die just as easily but everything is accurate as fuck. I much prefer the system in Bad Company 2 where everything is accurate but you die in like 12 hits. I'm just saying it's a lot better than dying as soon as you spawn.
Worst thing about BF2 was grenade spam. Why use the inaccurate as fuck weapons when everyone can just throw a shit ton of super powerful grenades.
Not to mention to survive it all you had to do is swim in a sea of medpacks and do the head in wall trick.
I really do wish Battlefield 3 was the game that combined all the good parts of Battlefield 2 and Bad Company 2 and made like the perfect Battlefield game, because Bad Company 2 was definitely an improvement in many parts (Gunplay, Destruction, etc.) but they took out lots of stuff that made Battlefield 2 good. Problem is Battlefield 3 just ended up being a blend of the bad parts of both and a big disappointment.
