Just got an Acer aspire 1640 for free: what should I do with it?

Well it's pretty much free, the LCD is broken, but that's a simple 20$ screen that I already ordered, and a 6$ power adapter if who I got it from can't find theirs.
So, I know it's a POS, I'm going to run linux on it probably as it's a smaller OS than the XP home edition it came with, so what should I do with this bugger? Is it worth anything?
Also if anyone wants to product key for XP home edition, I'll gladly give it to you, free of charge, but $5 through paypal would be a very kind donation if you wanted to make it as a return give.
I'd just sell it on ebay.
How much is it worth though?
Good luck getting more than $100 for it.
Personally I'd just keep it as a spare to use if your current computer breaks, or if you want to go on holiday but don't want to risk getting an expensive computer stolen etc etc.
I figure I'll just use it to kickstart my project for putting a computer in my car as I'm having issues finding a good space to mount that and not take from space I need for passengers and such.
Plus housing the actual computer in my car is a large custom project in its self as I'm not half-assing the project.
Sounds like a good idea. You should post a progress thread (with pictures) on your project.
It's too large for my project so I'm selling it for $60 with a fixed screen. So that's $40 profit. Then I'm selling an Intel desktop board d845epi + pentium 4 sl6pf cpu for pretty much $40. Trying to get some funds to get it started, will probably create a thread for the car project when it comes closer to reality.
(( Shameless Ebay link for the motherboard?: http://www.ebay.com/itm/190708395026?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649#ht_500wt_1199 ))
Any particular reason for a full on computer? I'd personally put something like a Nexus 7 in my car (and at $200 they're not exactly expensive).

Mostly just for shits and giggles. I'm not sure how I want to go about it yet really though, I might just mount a laptop or something but idk.
The real challenge would probably be the software. There's only a couple of semi-proper Windows tools and those are paid.
Craigslist. If nobody wants it, part out the HDD and RAM.

This isn't the thread for you to advertise what you're selling, and that thing isn't really worth $58.
