LINK FOR LIVE STATEWIDE RESULTS: https://www.nytimes.com/elections/results/alabama-senate-special-election-roy-moore-doug-jones A very divisive race, Judge Roy Moore has been accused of so many hideous acts, and also has the strong legal/PR team that has been helping him keep afloat. As well, the President has offered a very strong and supportive endorsement for his candidacy. Doug Jones, the Democratic opponent, a legal leader who brought racist terrorists to justice, is losing in the polls. Jones supports economically conservative positions like lower taxes, but is losing ground to his opponent on social issues such as abortion, same sex marriage, etc. This election race is a defining moment in our legal & political history. Pray for Alabama this week.
Anyone who votes for Roy hereby surrenders their ststus as a decent human being
C'mon Alabama, prove that you're not as bad as everyone says.
Jones supports economically conservative positions like lower taxes, but is losing ground to his opponent on social issues such as abortion, same sex marriage, etc.
social issues like sexually assaulting children are irrelevant though what the hell is wrong with this country
Sadly Jones is far too in favor of individual freedoms for Alabama.
"its okay when we do it"
He's going to win.
He's going to win.
yes, Roy is clearly going to win
Al Franken resigns just in time for a child molester to get elected under a sitting president also accused of sexual assault. What a time to be alive.
I'll vote for the first time for jones, I tuned 18 on the 7th of this month, but moore will 90% win and i am so sorry  seeing news on the internet about AL makes me sad :(
god could Alabama try any harder to live up to it's already gross reputation?? also Moore couldn't have timed this any better if he tried, having his election controversy right smack dab in the middle of the "ANYTHING THE MEDIA SAYS BAD ABOUT REPUBLICANS IS FAKE NEWS!!" defense craze lol. also this thread feels a bit premature given there's still two days till the election. not much to really talk about right now beyond the fact that this is gross but he's going to win anyways.
I saw this today on twitter and it made me pretty upset like what the hell. this is alabama

About 3 or so weeks ago, the BBC ran a segment on the radio about the election. They actually sent someone into Alabama to ask voters what they thought of the sexual allegations. One woman's defense was literally, "Girls in Alabama look a lot older than what they are so it's understandable if he did that" :what:
538 have basically said it's a toss up, with moore maybe having a slight lead.
I'm not going to believe another poll until I die fam
I'm not going to believe another poll until I die fam
I mean if the polls are wrong, hope they're in your favor. 538 said they're unpredictable anyway for a special election.
fuck it, if we're gonna have this thread this early we might as well play a game of "predict the winner" in the mean time.
fuck it, if we're gonna have this thread this early we might as well play a game of "predict the winner" in the mean time.
Why isn't Jeb an option?
fuck it, if we're gonna have this thread this early we might as well play a game of "predict the winner" in the mean time.
Already toxxed but Roy has this in the bag
I have zero faith in my state. Roy Moore could literally steal an infant child from a mother's arms on a live Fox news broadcast, shove his dick down its throat, then bash its head in with a hammer while proclaiming "I hate America, Stalin is my idol, straight people should be forcibly sterilized, allahu akbar!" and he would still only trail by a couple of points. You can't win against decades of brainwashing, tribalism, and poor education simply by being a reasonable human being.
I'm trying to be optimistic so I'll vote Doug Jones here, but I'm really tired of being disappointed in my fellow Americans so i won't be surprised if Moore wins by a landslide.
Everyone seems to treat political parties like sports teams. They will vote in Moore since "Hes not a democrat" And nothing more.
I'm gonna say Doug Jones will win because I want to be optimistic.
Seeing Moore as a sort of hard, consistently garbage Trumpist candidate, I'm seriously hoping that the Alabama voting base takes a hard look at itself and its values following the gradual unveiling and publication of his shitty personal timeline, and votes Jones. If Moore loses, his defeat would also possibly be a swift kick to the pants for sitting GOP members in Washington, spurring them to accidentally play themselves in an ensuing attempt at being as American as possible. Either way, we will see shit like "Alabama has failed the Union" all over social media, if not the internet at large, whenever the tallying will be complete. I'm just hoping it's hardline GOP patriots posting it.
In a state like Alabama, I can see Doug Jones having prosecuted KKK bombers actually hurting his chances of winning, not helping them.

Make sure you vote Republican!"
Why isn't Jeb an option?
Who's Jeb? Don't you mean 'JEB!'? It is interesting to see Frank Luntz criticising conservatives. Is he not a Republican spin doctor who invented the 'Class Warfare' excuse? I remember when that Republican Senator who drop kicked a journalist won in, I believe, Montana, so I imagine Roy Moore will win. There's no longer any right for the American right to suggest moral superiority on *anything*.
