White South African farmers “deserve special attention” from Australia due to the “horrific circumstances” of land seizures and violence, Peter Dutton has said. The home affairs minister told the Daily Telegraph on Wednesday his department was examining a range of methods to fast-track their path to Australia on humanitarian or other visa programs.
Australia considers fast
Pretty good idea. The direction South Africa is heading should be obvious by now.
Oh this really works out nicely, when I think of countries running low on colonizers Australia springs to mind immediately.
The way the quote is ordered makes it look like an exaggerated William Shatner impression
While I'm glad that those farmers are getting some help it's a bit fuckey that Australia is doing it considering their very recent history in having immigration camps. I hope this is a sign that they're going to start helping people more and not that they're going to start only helping white people more.
South Africa sure is living up to its name. Cause its going South fast...
Other previous colonial powers should be prepared to offer them refuge, to be honest. Britain and the Netherlands should really offer some refuge for them too.
If the Afrikaans go to Australia a new breed of bogan will be born, even unintelligible amongst its own bogan brethren.
I'm guessing I don't understand the situation well enough but it seems like previously the natives to South Africa got fucked over, and now they're doing a fine job of fucking those who did unto them equally if not moreso now. Feel free to call me dumb on this but eye for an eye and the whole world goes blind is how I see this.
Not at all surprising that our fucking government starts accepting refugees when they're not brown and poor.
This bullshit mentality is what causes racism to continue to exist. If you want equality from everyone, you have to drop shit from the past and quit punishing people for the actions of their ancestors.
Acting like it never happened doesn't really work when the effects from that time still come into play. Yeah, that's what I found very amusing about this. There are a lot of people who have it way worse in Africa, and likely even South Africa. But the offer gets extended to these people. Not that they shouldn't help people who are getting their shit seized and discriminated against, but still lmao
"Quit punishing people for the actions of their ancestors" could just as easily be turned around to say "quit letting people suffer for the subjugation of their ancestors". Reversing the direction of racism is absolutely not desirable, but pretending it never happened, sweeping it under the rug, and declaring racism "over" is just as unhelpful.
yep, keep the brown refugees in borderline concentration camps but invite the cacs in en masse. no bias there
