Did anyone else go to see this movie on christmas day?
While the trailer looks really dumb, the movie itself is actually really kickass. There are plenty of good fight scenes (the most I've seen in any Sherlock movie), an excellent soundtrack, and both Jude Law and Downey Jr. play Watson and Sherlock (respectively) pretty damn well.
Here's a basic plot for you who haven't seen it:
After finally catching serial killer and occult "sorcerer" Lord Blackwood, legendary sleuth Sherlock Holmes and his assistant Dr. Watson can close yet another successful case. But when Blackwood mysteriously returns from the grave and resumes his killing spree, Holmes must take up the hunt once again. Contending with his partner's new fiancée and the dimwitted head of Scotland Yard, the dauntless detective must unravel the clues that will lead him into a twisted web of murder, deceit, and black magic - and the deadly embrace of temptress Irene Adler.
Saw it yesterday twas badass, but I thought the female lead didn't do a good job of her part.
Sherlock Holmes isn't supposed to have any fight scenes. He's a Detective not a Mercenary.
I went to go see it at the 10:00 PM showing, it was sexy. Rated 8.5/10
The Trailer looks really nice may go see it :D

:downs:
if you read the books, sherlock holmes studies and participates in martial arts.
though this movie was complete and utter shit and nothing like the book, so don't think I'm defending it

But he doesn't fight blindly.
He actually plans where each hit will land, at what angle, if he uses his palms or fists, and how it will affect the opponent.
Watson does the punching.
The person playing watson should have been playing Holmes. And RDJ shouldn't have been in the movie.
Damnit, Sherlock is swav, Watson is bumbling and stupid!

That's like saying, "It's not inconsistent that Captain Nemo fights against a tribe of indians in the new movie! He feels really bad when he's doing it!"

Have you read any of the original stories?
Watson isn't as smart as Holmes, but he isn't stupid.

By comparison. That's the team.
No they're both smart.
It's just that Watson is more of a practical thinker. Whereas Sherlock Holmes thinks 'outside the box'.
They make a good team together though.
I'm just happy that he had superpowers, like in the original novels.
If I know Ritchie, and I do, this film will have somebody who owes money to hard bahstahds who think everyone is a fahking cahnt.
This movie was great, I was entertained.
Remember seeing the trailer a few months ago. I love Guy Ritchies' movies, definitely seeing this.

martial arts are for building the body and mind, regardless if you're using it for combat
It's only a 12s which means no cool swearing by 'ahd men.
It was a pretty cool movie in my opinion.

He used his detective skills to beat people up. Did you see the movie?
I've read all the old Sherlock Holmes stuff. This movie I feel I would just hate so much.
Judging from the trailers I'd say this looks like it'd be a runner up for the worst film of the year.
Judging from your post, you are an idiot, and you are runner up for stupidest post of the year.
Anyway, the movie was quite entertaining. The whole thing wasn't what the trailers made it out to be, it was actually kind of true to the novels, as most of the movie was detective work and not action. I was actually surprised by how in depth they went with the clues and whatnot.
[editline]11:29PM[/editline]
[sp] Also, the movie had me convinced that Blackwood actually had magical powers until Holmes pointed out all of the clues that revealed him to just be a fraud, and that he used clever illusions to trick everybody into fearing him so he could become powerful.[/sp]

There is going to be a sequel centered around Moriarty, it is heavily hinted at the end.
Sorry, the trailer made it out to be a ridiculous action movie.
Bad advertising on their part.

[sp]Yea I did actually think the movie was going to be like the fantasy spinoffs of Sherlock. Especially when he "rose from the grave".[/sp]

I'd have to agree, though the fight scenes tried to be detective like, and were quite awesome because Holmes analyzed and predicted every movement, hit, and result from that hit during the fight.

[sp] When the movie comes out on TV/DVD I'm going to look for all the signs that Holmes pointed out that revealed Blackwood to be a fraud.[/sp]
I saw it yesterday, was immensely entertaining but mostly unremarkable.
Saw it today. I enjoyed it, burnt out as i was.
I liked how Watson wasn't the little bitch I always seemed to think he was.
I thought he was a butler for the longest time
Just got home from watching this. Loved it.
I know nothing of the old Sherlock Holmes so...
Extremely good movie. Loved it.
Excellent movie. Loved it.
The fight scenes especially.
