People living in the US and Canada can watch every full episode FREE on the AMC website. While packing he is gassed and is taken to a beautiful but deadly prison known only as "The Village" where people are taken, given a Number to be called by and kept there for the rest of their lives if they don't tell No. 2 (the deputy head of "The Village") the information they are captured for. Escape is nearly impossible as "The Village" has amazing but deadly weapons to use if anybody tries to escape. The Agent is given the title of "No. 6" but he adopts the name of "The Prisoner". The series tells of his attempts to resist the plots of each No. 2 (who is replaced with another if an attempt on No. 6 fails) to get his information and against any attempt to disrupt the nearly peaceful running of the "The Village". The Village is determined to crack The Prisoner by attempting to get the answer to why he resigned from his job/post. As time goes on, two questions plague The Prisoner's mind - How can he escape and who is the real leader of the Village - the mysterious No. 1? The Prisoner" is a unique piece of television. It addresses issues such as personal identity and freedom, democracy, education, scientific progress, art and technology, while still remaining an entertaining drama series
Starring: Patrick McGoohan and The Rover Map of The Village [img_thumb]http://suif.stanford.edu/~aimee/images/village-map-huge.gif[/img_thumb] The village is a real location in Wales I believe. They even have their own tourism website. http://www.portmeirion-village.com/ The show was so popular the Simpsons did a spoof of it, the episode was called: "The Computer Wore Menace Shoes" There was also a 2009 mini-series loosely based on this also called The Prisoner starring Ian Mckellan and Jim Cavizel that was shown on AMC. I've only seen the miniseries remake, but it's so wonderfully awesome it's worth watching. Love the remake.
"I am not a number! I am a free man!" Maiden has a song about it.
I watched it when I was young, a few years ago I actually went to the place it was filmed which was really amazing.
Damn, the remake has a version of "You are my Sunshine" that they made for the movie it seems but isn't on the soundtrack and it irks me off because I bloody loved that version. Also, the gay kid, 2's son, in the remake is cute :3 Too bad he [sp]hanged himself[/sp]. Made me sad. And the guy who plays Hawkins from Jericho was in it as the cab driver, too, which I liked.
Even the original one isn't that good. A man runs away from a white ball. That's just silly.
Even the original one isn't that good. A man runs away from a white ball. That's just silly.
What are you talking about the original is amazing. I watch it whenever I see it's on. Been to the place where it was filmed, too.
Ian Mckellin :O
No wonder why that Hurley and Ben scene was so familiar. You'll make a good number 1. Hurley: And you'll make a good number 2.
Just watched the last episode of this show. Holy shit, it was crazy as hell.
The protagonist looks like he's supposed to be an antagonist....
Are the AMC videos in order by airdate or by the fan-agreed viewing order?
Are the AMC videos in order by airdate or by the fan-agreed viewing order?
Fan arranged viewing order. Air date also varied by country, so Canada & US had different a different air date order then UK. Also, for some reason the show premiered on Canadian TV a week before the UK even though it was a UK show.
Sorry for bumping but i just saw the end of the new series, Is it anything like this? It was a confusing ending, [sp]Mainly where he pulled the grenade but also where it kept cutting to real life[/sp]
The new series annoys me. I just dislike the protagonist. The old show is a great cult series. Be seeing you...
